Baseball Mitts and Gloves

Having the right baseball mitt or glove can make a big difference in your game. There are many types of baseball gloves, so be sure to choose one that meets your needs.

Baseball gloves for different field positions have different designs. A first baseman glove is relatively large and the fingers are connected, making it appropriate for scooping up balls. A catcher's mitt is fingerless and has a basket-like pocket and padding to ensure that the catcher can guard home plate with ease. Middle infield gloves are smaller and lightweight, allowing you to catch and release the ball quickly. Third baseman gloves are slightly larger and designed to capture a fast-incoming ball. Outfield gloves are larger and longer to allow you to secure difficult catches without fumbling the ball.

In addition to field position, consider who will be using the glove. If you throw with your right hand, you'll use a "regular" glove, which is worn on the left hand.
