Hands Down Best Toy Dog!
Best robot toy on the market. It is like having your own real puppy to play with minus feedings and cleaning. My toddler loves dogs but my kids are allergic so this toy was a no brainer. After the first day this is the children's favorite toy. This pug jumps with the slight movement of your hand and reacts to your touch, whether it be a pat on the head or stroking it's back. After a couple of days and what I believe are low batteries the motion feature doesn't seem to work as often, but the reaction to petting still is great. On the first day after opening it, I had my daughter say goodnight to it and the toy jumped up, then did a front ward facing lay down as if it went to sleep. I was pretty impressed. The fur is extremely soft and does a really great job mimicking the softness of a real puppy. The heads moves through its animated excitement. My only con would be that they eyes are unrealistically large but this is my own personal preferential con. All of my children (1 to 13) love this toy pet, it's fun to play with and soft to cuddle. If it could walk then there would be no need for real puppies. Really awesome toy that the whole family can enjoy.

Disappointing toy
My daughter has been asking us to get her the FurReal Friends JJ, My Jumpin' Pug Pet for several months now. We have already put it on her Christmas list for Santa. So we were so excited to see it as be product we could get through Wal-Mart. The box and packaging for the FurReal Friends is so cute and pretty. Very attractive to the eye and draws kids into the toy and wanting the toy. The actual toy is of good size and about the size of a real size Pug. We were impressed by the reality of the looks and the eyes are huge and very playful but not unrealistic looking. Unfortunately, the FurReal Friends JJ Pug is very flimsily made. It is advertised to be a mechanical toy but also a stuffed toy. But, the toy has absolutely no stuffing in it at all. When you pick the FurReal Friends dog up all you can feel is hard metal and the mechanisms that makes the dog move and speak. Unfortunately, the material/fur is very thin and we are afraid that the mechanism will rip the material as the dog moves about and jumps. The dog also speaks but you can not always understand what the dog is supposed to be going on. There is a bark, a slurp like sound that is either is supposed to be either the dog drinking or a kissing kind of action. And there is another sound that we just do not know what it is suppose to be except that the noise sounds like the dog is farting. Which is in our opinion in appropriate for a toy for a small child. Also, we can not find an on/off button either, so every time you move the box or walk past it, the dog jumps, moves or makes sounds. It will eventually wear the mechanism down and not work anymore. Not a good feature if you can not turn it off. We are very disappointed with the toy and would not recommend it to other parents.

    Love love love it!
JJ is such a hit in our house. My 5 year old loves him as much as my 2 year old who is usually afraid of toys that move on their own! (I think we let him watch Toy Story too soon.) I digress. JJ is pretty cool. Do not let the fact that it doesn't actually walk deter you from purchasing. He is always in the sitting position. The bottom is the base and as you would imagine it is hard to support the seemingly "jumping" function. And oh boy, he does a whole lot of jumping and moving, as the name suggests. Children must pat him on the head start him going. Once he is activated he will pick up on the slightest touch and even movement and begin jumping by himself. Bonus, if you put him on a smooth flat surface he will jump and move across it to you. Another bonus? He is super soft. My daughter sleeps with him constantly and I have no worries about that. The fur is so much softer than I anticipated it would be. Pointer, be sure to turn him OFF during the night if he cuddling with your child. Otherwise, when she or he tosses he will activate and begin barking and "jumping". If you are a fan of the FurReal line this one is definitely worth adding to the collection.

Cute, but doesn't hold interest for long
My daughter loves dogs and has other toys that makes barking noises, so I thought this would be a toy she would enjoy, but she got quickly bored and would not play with it after a few minutes. It has nice soft fur and with exception to the large eyes, does look very much like a little pug puppy. It reacts to either waving a hand in front of his face, petting his back, or patting his head, all which are quite sensitive, but doesn't do very much other than bark, make panting/small weird growling noises, jump up, move his head slightly, and sit. You also have to turn him off yourself, which is disappointing. It would have been much more practical to have a self shut down mode after a few minutes (or at least a button easier to access than on the bottom of his feet). He would be much more fun if he walked around, went to sleep, made eating sounds, could squeak a rubber chew toy, had the ability to respond to certain commands, and/or could chase his tail. It also would have been nice to include some accessories such as a collar, leash, feeding dish, brush, chew toy, and/or puppy bed. So for now the options for my daughter are to continue to play with her non-barking/non-motion puppy plush dog that has the above mentioned accessories (and dress up clothes) that she loves and just wait to be old enough for a real live dog.

    Pug
I got this and the Unicorn for my Grand Daughter when she comes over for a visit. The toy is hard plastic covered with a soft furry wrap body, which is fairly light in weight, and uses AA batteries accessible through the phillips screw plastic cover on the bottom, next to an on/off switch. There is an additional switch located on the top of the head between the ears. It makes several dog noises, such as barking, whining, and tongue lapping. while it raises up on it's hind legs thrusting the front legs up and out. The eyes are enormous and a major focal point. Bottom line, it is just as cute as it could be! This was clearly my Grand Daughter's favorite and she would carry it with her both inside and outside the house. I noticed the animation sequences when the unit is carried around continue, but not to the extreme that the child would drop the toy. Visually, this is one of those toys you just want to pick up and cuddle. There also seems to be a motion sensor as I have noticed it will activate when a person walks by or reaches for the toy. This one is a keeper in my house.

    Lifelike, Loveable Little Pug
He looked so cute on Walmart.com. I just had to see what he looked like in real life. My FurReal Friends JJ, My Jumpin' Pug Pet arrived in a big, brown box from Walmart and after my husband opened it for me, that ended the impersonal, detached feelings I had about that little dog. I immediately fell in love with that sweetie and found it hard to remember that he was only a toy. He started barking and making puppy noises even before we got him out of the box which only added to his allure. He was cuteness overload in a box. Starting from the tippy top of his furrowed, fur-covered little head to the bottom of his feet he is a cuddle-bug. His huge blue eyes look at you as if he is begging you to pat him or play with him, and his little ears are perked up as if he wants to jump up and play. His little pink tongue and his blue license tag greatly add to his charm. All you have to do is stroke his little head and he starts barking and growling in a playful manner, all the while he is jumping and sitting up and waving his paws in the air. Then when he gets through being all excited, he either sits back down, or lies down and goes to sleep. Sometimes he makes puppy noises when you walk past him without touching him. I'm not sure if he is supposed to do that or if it's the floor vibration which makes him bark quietly, but he sure got me by surprise the first time when I walked past him and he barked at me. You really don't know how he is going to act next. He is so much like a live puppy but you don't have to feed him. If, somewhere in the distant future, I find a needy grandkid who is in absolute dire straits and must have him, I'll probably part with my little pug. But until then, he is going to be my sweet pet. Yes, I would recommend him to a friend or relative or anyone whom I really like. This is one adorable little toy

Cute toy for an age-appropriate child
I wanted to review this toy as the FurReal friends toys are cute especially for kids who can't have a real pet for whatever reason. This little pug dog is very cute. It comes with the batteries in demo mode so that you can try it out in the store before buying it. You can also turn it on and off once you take it out of the package. If you touch his head, there is a switch that makes it turn on, bark and hop up and down a little with its front paws; it also responds to changes in light by barking and jumping up and down if you wave your hand in front of its eyes. It makes various noises like barking, panting, and growling, and also makes a sound that sounds like it is passing gas; I still haven't figured out exactly what that noise is supposed to be; it could be that he is making the "blowing raspberries" noise with its tongue. Even if you move the toy a little bit, it will react. The funniest thing that happened was when it was still in the box; we had it in a dark room and when the light was turned on, the toy started barking and panting, due to the change in light! Our real dogs were afraid of it. I did post a video; it's the first one I've ever done so it's not that great but you will get the idea of what it looks and sounds like when it is in action. It doesn't do a whole lot but jump up and down with the front paws and make various noises in different patterns. I think for a child around the minimum age that it is recommended for would like it for a bit but an older child would probably get bored really quickly. But it is pretty cute, and I think most younger kids would be very happy to receive it for a birthday gift or under the Christmas tree.

    Cute Toy Puppy
This is really a cute toy puppy. The huge eyes are so adorable can't help but want to play with it. This is for my granddaughter who will be 3 and I know she will love playing with it. We did. Easy to use but triggering it by waving my hand or patting it on the head didn't always work at first but once I got it going it worked great. He is definitely lightweight and can be carried around very easily. Takes 4 batteries, which to me is quite a bit. He is limited as to the tricks or what he does so after playing with the puppy for awhile I can see where a kid would get bored but it is cute. Pat the head a couple of times or wave your hand in front and it will do the routine of jumping, sitting up or barking. The puppy doesn't walk which would have been fun for it to follow you around. It did tend to stop in the sitting up position and in order to get it to sit I had to either do the demo mode or push it down and click it to off. I read some reviews and noticed that this type of toy would be great at a senior facility so after it is no longer played with, I will definitely pass this on. I can see where it would be fun at a senior/assisted living facility. I received this to review and thought it was fun, I don't think I would have purchased it for my granddaughter as the limited reuse would have come up and I would want to give something that would get more play time usage.

    Cute Furry Friend
This FurReal Friends Pug is absolutely adorable. It jumps up, sits up, pants, kind of whines, and barks on AA batteries. There is an on/off switch thank goodness. He seems to be motion sensitive as well as by petting him. His tongue is plastic. His plastic charm is attached under his neck....no collar. I think this is a great toy. I do not know how long batteries will last or the durability of the toy, but do know it will be well enjoyed by children and adults. And it isnt real loud either!

Not as Real as I would like
This is a great idea for a interactive pug. It is kind of heavy, although still within the range that is comfortable to carry around. It's not as huggable as I had hoped for children to enjoy but the majority of its mechanical stuff is underneath but huggable parts still make it not as kid cuddly as i hoped. There are two main ways to trigger a response from JJ: 1) touching his head, and 2) waving your hand in front of him. He then does one of a small variety of actions, including standing on his hind legs or going down on all fours, plus some cute dog sounds. Very lifelike and fun to see. I wish there were more actions, though, as after about 5 minutes of interaction, it starts to become repetitive. The main issue we have is that the triggers, especially waving your hand, seem pretty finicky and don't work for a majority of the time. I checked the batteries and they were all good. I was surprised they were duracell alkaline not cheap chinese batteries! . The head touching also has to be done just right - there is a button that you can feel under the surface of the top of the head. If you don't hit that button, nothing will happen. Ugh! When it does work, it drives my springer spaniel to bark. LOL. But, the only way to ensure it works is to turn it off and then back on...what a shame!! Overall, I had high hopes for this interactive toy but it needs some improvement before I can recommend as a Spark reviewer.
