Terrific mower
What a great mower! I would not have guessed that the deck wasn't metal. It's really well made and solid. The Briggs Engine is more or less the same as routine mowers only in this configuration there is a speed controlling handle on the bars that makes the mower move forward when you push forward. It took some getting used to for me since I have been using a grip style engaging bar that you pull up with your fingertips. These Briggs engines are just about bullet proof as long as you don't leave them out in the rain. Once you get water in the tank you'll have trouble until you clean out the fuel system. Fortunately, a mower as nice as this one gets a spot in the dry garage next to the car. I like the adjustments for height. There are clear stickers indicating which direction to push the lever to increase or decrease the cutting height. The front and rear are adjusted with different levers. I've always kept them the same height but like the ease of adjusting them independently. The one mower I had that tried to adjust all the wheels at the same time was very hard to adjust. There's a great bagger attachment on this mower but it's more or less vanilla for what you would expect in a bag. The release for the bag is easy as is the normally shut side discharge port. I like that approach as I rarely use the side discharge and prefer that side of the mower to be flush so I can cut as close to the fence as possible. This mower is easy to maneuver and works really well.

Stout Mower
The Black Max 21-inch adaptive speed mower is an upgrade for any homeowner with a moderate sized yard…like me! First off, the pros. In my opinion, a Briggs and Stratton engine is always a good thing. After adding the included oil (thank you!!) and fuel, the mower started up with ease. Since I have a hilly yard, I very much appreciate the 11-inch wheels and the rear wheel drive. As stated, this mower adapts its speed with my walking pace, making it easy to push from start to finish. I like the ability to both bag the clippings and spread them if I so desire. As for the cons, there were not many. As I was assembling the mower, I noticed that a bracket was slightly bent. This bracket is used to lock the handlebar in place for use and just barely catches the associated pin, so I have been watchful. I also found it difficult to remove the “plug” that must be in place while dispensing clippings on the ground instead of bagging. While there is a handle to pull the plug, in my opinion it requires too much force and just the perfect angle to remove it from the mower. Those may be minor, but they were noticeable. Ultimately, I am very impressed with the Black Max mower and I would recommend it to friends and family in the market for a new mower.

    Really Great Mower
    This 21" self propelled mower is equipped with rear wheel drive and 11" wheels which makes it ideal for mowing on a slope. Starts up with one pull, and is easy to maneuver. Front and back wheels can be raised or lowered independently, and it can be folded up and stored on end to save quite a bit of space. My particular mower had a broken handle right out of the undamaged box (see photo), but since this handle is non-functional, it is not a problem and can be mended with some heavy duty glue. It is, I think, a little less noisy than some mowers, and did an excellent job of evenly cutting the grass. The grass catcher is easy to put on and take off, and the side discharge shoot can be used if you want to mulch your clippings. Definitely a five-star mower, even with the broken handle. I am so glad I have it, because one side of the house has a fairly steep slope and the self-propelled function makes cutting the grass so much easier!

    It really matches your speed!
    I have a small yard but it has many terrains; one side is thick with grass and really uneven and soft ground, the other side is more weeds with thin grass and slightly slanted but more even. This mower has made it all a much easier task. I barely had to put any push to this mower, only once did I have to and it was over a hole with a mound on the side. In the time that it took my husband to get all the things for and replace the mailbox bracket, I had mowed the yard. My chronic migraines are triggered by exertion which happens when mowing, but it doesn't now because the mower does all the work, as it should! There is a manual change in the cut height, I use the level 3. There is a bag attachment that makes cutting through the thick stuff a lot cleaner. I am very impressed and recommend to anyone that likes or needs a push mower.

    Speed mower is right
    I have a small lawn to cut and for several years used a battery powered rechargeable mower. It would almost always run out just about the time I finished but it lacked the power to cut tall grass. This mower makes short work of the lawn if you get several days of rain that delay the cutting. The wheels adjust the deck from a height of 1 1/2" to 4” with no effort at all. Since it's self-propelled if you have any type of incline it is essentially effortless to use. The engine is Briggs and Stratton, so I expected no trouble getting it to start. It came in a box, weighs 68 lbs and you just unfold the handle and lock in place to get ready. Someone really thought this out because at the base of the handle where it connects to the deck there are two slots to adjust for the height of the operator. I am 5' 10” and one was perfect for me. I tried the other one for taller people and it was just a bit awkward. I added 15 oz of oil, put in some fresh gas, and pulled the cord. I use real gas but the manual said you can use up to E10. There are two control bars on the top of the handle, the top one has to be held down with the left hand and you pull the starter cord with the right. It took no effort to pull and because I just added gas it took two pulls to start the first time. After that it started the first pull every time. When you step behind the mower and pull the second bar up, that activates the self-propelling gears. It moves right along with no pushing and you better be ready to move. When you let go of the bar it stops instantly and if you let go of both bars it shuts off totally. There is a mulching plug in the rear of the deck, a grass catcher you can add if you pull out the plug and it also has a side ejector slot. The side ejection doesn't have to be used, you can just mulch the clippings or you can mulch and eject the trimmings. It takes about 5 seconds to add the flap to make the grass eject. This is something new to me, the engine never needs an oil change. Apparently you just check it every time and add a little 10w-30 as needed. It gave a nice even cut, was a lot neater than the battery powered one and was quicker. I really like this mower and recommend it.

    best self propelled mower I've ever used.
    This is a 21 inch - self propelled adaptive speed lawn mower. IT has perfect pace technology that matches your walking speed. I really like that because i don't have to run to hold on to it when i'm mowing. This mower has rear bag mulching or you can use the side discharge. Setting the blade height to different heights is easy. That's also another plus for me because i usually struggle with the height levers. The 11 inch wheels and rear wheel drive provide added traction when mowing hilly and uneven ground. This mower is powered with a Briggs and Stratton engine that starts in 2 pulls. This one started in one pull. It has a poly max deck that has a life time warranty. The deck is light weight, rust and corrosion resistant. That's another plus for me because I've seen metal decks rust and break down. It was easy to assembly , but it did take me more than 5 minutes to put it together. Another good thing is that it folds up and saves up to 70 per cent storage space. Maybe it will be easier to mow the lawn this year because with this one i don't have to push and pull the mower around.

    Great 3 in 1 mower
    The Black Max High Wheel21 inch Adaptive speed mower has all the features you should ever expect or need. Assembly was very easy and fast as all that was needed after unboxing was to attach the handle and the grass catcher, add the included oil, fill with gas and start which was the easiest to start mower i have ever owned just one pull and it fired up and ran perfectly. No primer bulb to push on, no choke to engage and no throttle to adjust and NO OIL CHANGES REQUIRED as that has all be eliminated with this mower. Adjusting the wheels is done easily and you only have to adjust from one side so when you adjust the front wheel on one side it adjusts both front wheels and the rear works the same way. The deck is made of polymax which is lightweight and rust resistant material and has a lifetime warranty. The engine is a Briggs and Stratton 725EXI 163cc motor that has plenty of power to tackle that tall tough grass. The grass catcher attaches with no tools required and simply slides into a slot on each side but before you attach you must remove the plug at the rear of the mower to allow the grass to escape from the back and into the grass catcher. The grass side discharge plug is permanently attached to the mower for mulching or using the grass catcher and if you do not want to use the grass catcher you simply lift it off the mower and reinsert the plug and you are set to mulch the lawn. If you want to have the grass discharge out the side you lift the discharge plug and slide in the discharge shute and you are ready. The self propelled system is easiest of all and to operate you depress the safety bar on the handle start the mower and push on the handle to go and the harder you push the faster it goes so it operates at your walking speed automatically. The mower also has a neat feature for those with limited space by folding up to save 70% of the space normally consumed. But of all the features this mower comes with the ability to start so easily with no throttle, primer bulb or choke is great cause a mower that won't start or hard to start is not what i look for and this mower repeatedly started with one pull and best of all my wife started it with one pull.

    Great mower!
    We had a great mower but it is no longer working. We were in need of a new one as we were using an old mower at the end of summer last year. It was cutting the grass but it was far from an easy to use lawnmower. We were so excited to try this! We picked a warm day and broke it out just to see how well it worked. Wow! We were so pleased with this! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but boy does it do the job! It is so easy to use! I tried it myself even though my husband is normally the one who does the yard work. It was lightweight and easy for me to push. Cut the grass at a perfect height! It maneuvers well too. We are loving this and can't wait to use it this spring and summer! Definitely recommend! As a heads up the box was pretty big and heavy.

    Large, well built, solid piece of mowing machinery. It should last for many years The handle is comfortable and adjustable.. The self propelled mower makes moving much easier. Squeeze the lever and this thing fly out of your hands. Very nice feature! Wonderful lawnmower!

    This 21" 3 in 1 self propelled mower is vibrant red. The deck is Polymax decking. Briggs and Stratton starting no priming Needed. It is a stowable so it folds up for less space Needed in your garage. It has perfect pace so it matches Your walking speed. 3 in 1 cutting options. High wheel Design. It was Made in USA, which is a great option. It tilts flat stands for minimal garage space. It hums along very quiet. It does a fabulous job cutting. I highly recommend this mower. It is amazing. It started for me every time on the very first pull. The attached bagger is fabulous and holds a decent amount Of clippings. Do yourself. Favor and run to buy this mower! You will love it.
