Excellent General Use Computer
My 9-year-old Dimension was destroyed by a lightning strike. I bought this as a reasonally priced upgrade and replacement. This computer is more than adequate for all of my needs, and I couldn't beat the price. It's fast and quiet, and it is shipped with a recovery disk, mouse and keyboard. My only problem involved an error in the keyboard mapping, so I used the recovery disk to try to remedy the problem. That worked fine. Having a recovery disk is a big plus! The recovery process was very simple. The only additional hardware I'll need is a DVD RW and a good monitor, although neither is critical at this time. It's an excellent general use computer. I'm very satisfied with it.

Product was dirty , and did not work
Product was full of dust and even had one area with rust starting . Product did not work from the start . Tried everything and finally called help line . Had to wait for almost 2 hours before I got TECH PERSON . He did help me get the unit working ; had to play with stuff inside machine and the dust and dirt were every where . Got it started and then the product key would not work ; the tech guy had to take over my unit remotely and work with microsoft to operating system going . Unit worked for that day . The next day the unit did not work again. Called help line again and left a message twice and they never returned my called . I waited and waited for the call it never came . I was not a happy guy . My wife suggested I return unit which I did . They said unit was refurbished ; All it appears they did was shove it in a shipping box and ship it out . I guess buying these unit must be like rolling dice ;sometimes you win and sometimes you lose I lost . Decided to bite the bullet and get a brand new unit . It sounds like such a good deal but be ware C Green 04/02/14

Good machine at a good price
We use Dell computers at work and was quite familiar with them. I was needed to upgrade from a 10 year old eMachine running Win XP. My biggest concern was being able to run my older software, some of which cannot be replaced with newer versions (long story). About 7 years ago I tried a Compac with Win Vista. It was a total failure. It was so bad that I paid the 10% restocking charge to return it. What I had read and heard about Win 8 convinced not to go that route. Both the operating system and the machine have more than met my expectations. While there are newer and fast machines out there, this is more than adequate and I expect to get many years of service out of it. The Win 7 OS has exceeded my expectations. Most of my legacy software runs fine on this OS. This was a good purchase.

Problem with drivers for legacy software
A good value, except you better have newer printers that will support a window 7 driver. Older XP drivers will not work. 3.5 inch floopy will not work, no drivers. Intel drivers for mother board not current, I needed to go to Intel and have them scan for updates, or you can pay $30.00 for software that will automate the function. Joy Systems support in essentially non-existent, still waiting for driver support, two weeks now. If you not a techi, you should consider a new computer and not a refurbish one. Refurbished are a good value, however, wiith the current rapid changes by Microsoft in Operation Systems, your better off saving and going new. I happy, I am somewhat a techi, so some time in the future another refurbished will be purchased, because I know what to expect. If you want a refurbished, try going directly to Dell, or HP and buy from them, then you will have "some support.

Easy set up out of the box
Item arrived one day later than original schedule, but that was UPS's problem. Easy set up straight from the box. Everything was compatible and plug-in ready when switching existing accessories to new machine. Mouse that came with unit has a right-click hitch that does not always make connection when pressed. Overall very satisfied with machine that fits my needs nicely.

    Gets The Job Done
Big old clunky dinosaur of a computer but at 67 yrs old I'm a bit of a dinosaur myself so we get along fine. I set it up by myself so that tells you that it is fairly simple and that it worked right out of the box . Only misgiving I had was that my 10 yr old Lexmark printer was incompatible with Windows 7 so I bought a Cannon MG3222 (also from Walmart ) so that solved the problem for about $70. This all happened over the past two weeks so I hope the whole rig holds up for the next several years. I thought the huge memory made the computer a good buy and on the whole I am happy, happy, happy.

An excellent product for certain types of people
I have a nice monitor. My old tower finally bit the dust. I was looking for something very inexpensive yet met certain specs for a desktop. This filled my bill. I'm not sure if wallmart mentioned this but is important. The warranty (1yr) is covered by the company that refurbed this product. Not Dell as I expected. You can get a wallmart warranty for 34 bucks for 3 years? The cpu was a big reason I purchased this. A huge 3gz 8800 core 2 duo with 4 1gb slots of memory make this an excellent buy. I trashed the keyboard and the mouse as I have higher quality of both from logitech. The tower is very quiet. Of all the towers I have had this is the quietest by far. Its a windows 32 bit. I happened to have a 64 bit disk here and Microsoft said it was ok to switch as I can still use the sticker id. Was able to switch over to the 64 bit memory easily. Now I can add more memory modules as the 32 bit only allows 4gb maximum. The keyboard has a usb connection and there is no ps2 on my computer at least so I had to get a usb to ps2 adaptor for my HP keyboard. Make sure you get the correct adaptor that can read the signals. Not the cheapo kind. Same with mice. Summary: Is a definite refurb item but the care put into it is pretty well done. As I mentioned the processor makes this machine run very smoothly. No junk apps in the purchase just the bare bones that are necessary for a desktop. Well worth the price.

    Only Dell
I always Buy Dell because I've had no problems from thier Products. I don't like the way it was delivered to Me though " It was just left on My Porch without Me knowing it was Deliveered " this is not a good practace, as I myself don't have MONEY to throw away. I don't Know about You.
