Not designed well.
Do not use with hanging file folders. There is nothing on the edge to stop them from going into the sealing area for the lid and crushes them. It was also completely covered in white powder which I assume is what helps protect from fires, otherwise I don't know. It doesn't wash off from the exterior.

    Sturdy and Well-Designed
    I'm impressed with how sturdy and well designed this safe is. I'm very happy to have it and I'm filling it now! It's especially important since banks don't commonly have safe deposit boxes anymore. A nice surprise is that if the safe actually goes through a fire, it is replaced for free, since it has to be destroyed to retrieve the contents.

    Great file box safe
    Great file box sized safe, which perfectly holds my hanging files. Solid and very heavy which is what I want in a safe. The only concern is the closing LATCH is made of some type of plastic which looks like it would melt in a fire? Also it's a keyed safe rather than one with a combination . Very please with this safe!

    Strong safe
    This safe is definitely a good buy. I see that some people did not like the fact that it is so hard to move around but I actually wanted that. It's a lot harder for someone to steal an entire safe if its too bulky to move without anyone noticing. I also noticed that some people said they had an issue with the lid style closure and it coming completely off on its own. As of now we haven't had an issue with that either.

    Hinge snapped after three months of use.
    The safe was fine for the first three months after purchase, the hinges on the back started to fail at that point and after the fourth month the lid simply separated from the base.

    Sturdy and a Great Size
    This seems to be very well made. The seal is round rubber that goes all the way around the opening on the bottom portion. The latch has a positive feel when it closes. The key is small compared to keys for other lock boxes I have. It has elastic straps that go in the lid to allow holding a few flat items for easy access. I wish that it had some type of handle or something to grip to aid with picking it up. This safe/box is relatively heavy. Since it doesn't have any handles, it must be picked up by the bottom.

    Nice safe
    I like the safe--it is very heavy and it is the right size for what I am using it for; but I am a little disappointed in that the inner seal was damaged when I took it out of the box and there is some white residue on the outside that I cannot get off even after washing it.

    I'm so happy to have this safe for my important documents. I like that it is wide enough to hold hanging folders so the documents don't need to lie flat (like in a bank safety deposit box). It's nice to have my important documents readily available when I need them. My only wish was that it came with a handle, so I could move it more easily.

    Easier on handicapped
    Social worker insisted we put all legal papers in safety deposit box. But everytime I need one it's a trip to the bank. At 42 lb. I could put this on a rolling tray to move in/out of closet. This was one fee vs high annual fee to bank. The hanging file style lets us color code & label papers yet they are protected.
