Great book, but big and heavy.
I guess you should expect big and heavy when you're dealing with a 48 volume set. Great value though, would be a hundred, maybe a couple/few hundred dollars buying them individually. It's not easy to get comfortable to read the book. I expect it to be a little better as the book is broken-in.
I have actually not started reading this one yet, but volume 1 and 2 are just about the same size.

It picks up where we left off after Rick, Carl and his group dealing with life on the road after being removed from the prison by force. After dealing with the governor, they encounter many more groups of people. I loved reading about this Zombie apocalypse because it is fascinating to see how human beings interact with each other when the world is turned upside down and there are no laws or governments, no form or communication, no food being made, etc. Here were several Themes that stood out for me: 1)Trust: How do you go about trusting new people to be a part of your group? 2) Survival of the Fittest: Do you have the WILL POWER to do whatever it takes to survive (i.e. killing Zombies and bad human beings)? 3) Handling your emotions and the emotions of others: How do you cope with loneliness, depression and anger when so many friends and loved ones have passed away and death is constantly knocking at your doorstep? Each Compendium have 8 volumes (Volumes 1-8 for Compendium 1 and Volumes 9-16 for Compendium 2). Hopefully the 3rd Compendium will come out in 2015 after Volume 24 is written. 5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/14/2012The easiest and cheapest way to do it!For fans or new fans alike, who were not there in the beginning , the series is now on it's 105th issue . this is the easiest and cheapest way to catch up or start. Mint Issue's of # 1 have sold for over 1000.00 dollars and key issues are spiking too. When I say cheap this is absolutley the best price. You will find them for 48/50 bucks in any comic book store /evan B&K. I was thrilled to buy these at the price listed. If you have a Walking dead fan, either the tv series or comics , you cant go wrong considering these as a gift. Like I said both volumes bring you to issue 94 (i think) that is the complete series before the latest storyline "fear" was started ,ramping up to the 100th issue. Here is one last thing to consider, if you own the individual issues , thier value increases everyday! As long as they stay NM/M . Having these to read , will cut down on handling and wear and tear and keep your collection in top condition. You can just break out the Compendiums when you want to referrence or re-read an issue or storyline. One of the coolest gifts out there for a Walking dead fan... Unless you can afford a Daryl action figure Ha!grifter50000
