Great machine!
This is my first serger and I love it! I reviewed the Singer and the Brother online and out of almost 600 reviews, only 18 were 1 to 3 stars on this machine, whereas the Singer had around 44 reviews and they were mostly bad and mediocre. I read the book and watched several videos on youtube before I tested it out. I broke the thread on the lower looper right off the bat because I forgot to pull the spindle up all the way before I tried to test it. I went to the video on youtube from the lady that shows you how to thread it (not the cd that came with it) and I re-threaded it with no problems. I have sewed one dress and re-threaded with white thread since it came with multicolored thread that was not working with my color theme. I threaded it with no problems and the machine sewed perfectly. I have been sewing since I was a young girl and I have used several brands of sewing machines throughout my life. I also have the Brother Disney Embroidery machine. I think it will do nicely for what projects will be sewing at home.

SELLER SENT USED SERGER INSTEAD OF NEW ONE!!! I paid for a NEW serger but received an used one instead! Serger did NOT come in original box, it was in a Walmart box and all items were scattered inside and the threads were used! I am so disappointed and upset with this seller!!

    Great value for a serger
Been wanting a serger from some time. Another friend recommended this one. Really happy with it so far. Still a beginner. I am sure there is A LOT more I could learn to fully enjoy this. I am really impressed with how easy it is to thread. The lower looper thread ran out first and I didn't realize till it was too late. My friend said she has had for about 10 year without any issues and uses for all sorts of things. I have a ways to go to get that comfortable...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SERGER❤️
This is a great serger...I've had this same model bought aprox 10 yrs ago from Walmart...it's simple to use...powerful and an efficient workhorse...its NOT intimidating...especially easy threading... I'm buying it again now as a backup...my original is still working and has only been serviced once for a blade change..its nice to have another serger set-up with a different color or type of thread to speed thru several sewing projects at the same time... Since this machine uses regular sewing machine needles they are easy to find...I change needles according to fabric...stretch or ballpoint for knits and consider the weight...thickness and density of the fabric... It works well on woven and knits...layers of denim or canvas to tissue thin rayon knit...it can do rolled edges and several other stitches...having a differential feed and the ability to drop the knife easily is a plus that makes it versatile and quick... Keeping my machine vacuumed and oiled after projects has kept it in excellent condition...this is easy to do...lots of YouTube videos using and maintaining this serger,..

    Love my serger.
Love the machine. The only thing that I did not pay attention to was that there is no carrying case for it. I always like my machines in their own cases.

    Disappointment
I love the serger pretty much. The light bulb burned out right away. I looked in the manual so I wouldn't have to waste any time changing the bulb. Guess what...The book just said "Your serger has an LED bulb and it will not have to be replaced". Boy did I feel bad. Y'all need to change that! Well, I got the bulb out. Now where do I buy one? Do I have to pay for a bulb that was never supposed to burn out? My review would be 5 stars if I didn't have to mess with this. It's really hard to sew without the light.

    Brother 1034D serger
I purchased this serger to use along with my 15 year old basic sewing machine. I am recently retired and thought it would be nice to make craft items to supplement my income. I didn't expect this serger to be as simple as opening the box, turning the machine on, and start sewing. It truly is that simple!! I had some trouble with threading it the first few times but after several attempts it became easy and I don't hesitate to change out different colors of thread throughout the day. The machine dials are all color coded to help with the threading process. I love my serger and I use it almost daily! I purchased at Walmart online because it was the best price out there! And it was delivered within a few days along with free shipping!!!

Great, affordable serger for beginners and pro
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Sewing Contest. As a sewing enthusiast, I always wanted a serger to have a good professional finish to things that I sew, especially if I'm giving them away as gifts. Since I have never used a serger before, I wanted a machine that is easy to learn and thread. I love my first serger. I made pillows, Halloween decor items, bags, and I'm going to make many more with its great speed of up to 1300 stitches per minute, saving me time and effort. Pros: - The package came with everything that I would need to start my first project. It included two CDs to guide me the first few days, printed manual, snap-on feet (two additional feet, one for a blind hem and another for gathering ruffles), 4 small spools of threads, and accessory bag with needle set, 4 spool nets, tweezers, cleaning brush, hexl wrench, trim trap - I can use home sewing machine needles. I don't have to have two different sets of needles for my sewing machine and this serger - It has plain and decorative stitches. Easy to use them on fleece, flannel, cotton, polyester, linen, and more. - 3 or 4-thread cut-and-sew stitches options made it easy to cut and sew. I use both 3 and 4 threads; they turned out great (the picture is a pillow that I sewn using 3-thread stitches.) - The completely color-coded and numbered upper and lower looper threading made it easy to thread. Easy for beginners and experienced professional. - Can use regular thread spools and cone threads. - Differential feed makes it easy to sew any thickness of fabric. - Easy to disable the knife (if you don't want to cut as you sew) Cons - The CDs are not compatible with Macs. They were produced a very long time ago and the quality isn't good. The size of the video is small and it's hard to see the details. However, you can access it on Youtube, which I'd recommend. This CD or video will help you get started - It does not do coverlock stitch (stretchy stitch with two straight lines on the front of the fabric). However, you can do this on a regular sewing machine with a twin needle. - It does not do chain stitch (a semi-straight stitch), but it does do a good reinforcement

    Great machine!
I bought this machine at Walmart a few years ago, and I love it. I use it for piecing my quilts together, and it works perfectly even sewing thru layers of fabrics, and quilt batting. I like to do a lot of quilt as you go projects, and this machine is perfect for doing those projects.

    Fantastic serger!!!
I really love this serger!! It is easy to use and to thread. I also own another serger that cost a few thousand, which is currently getting repaired. I purchased this one just to use while my other one is being repaired. I like this one so much, that I may get a second one!! Sews like a dream through thick and thin fabrics, and uses standard sewing machine needles.

    Awesome, Easy to Use Serger
I read reviews of this Brother 4-3 Serger on several sites and on all sites it was very highly rated. I bought one and have found it to be an awesome, easy to use serger. It comes pre-threaded with color coded threads so you can test serging it as soon as you get it. I liked that - all I had to do was un pack and plug it in, and already I could test run it. Then came the hardest operation - re-threading it to (in my case) black thread.. The dvd and the instructions booklet gave very good instructions on how to do this, walking me through the process. In minutes I was off serging my own items. I like/liked this serger so much, and found it at such a good price, that I bought a second one - so now (because I do a lot of sewing) I keep one always threaded in black thread and one always threaded in white. I'd always been scared of sergers before, I thought they were very had to use and thread - but this one has sold me on serging and I am very very happy I got it.

    Excellent Serger
After reading hundreds of reviews about this machine, I knew I would be happy with it. I make washable furniture slipcovers and have to use a serger for all of the inside seams. After months of fighting with my old serger, and constantly re-threading it, I decided to buy a new one. I borrowed my neighbors Brother Serger to finish a project and really liked it. Now that I have my own... life's good again! I love the lower looper's easy threading! I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants to have worry free serging.

    Totally Awesome
This is the first serger I have owned, But I have used sergers in the past. I love this machine. The price is great, the accessories, the CD that tells you what you machine can or can't do, the lint trap the booklet that gives specifics. I researched this item and others for a while, then I purchased it. I made two skirts since I got this serger. I recommend this to any one.

This is my first serger after many years sewing. This machine is very easy to thread. In fact, it took more time to thread the machine from scratch than to untangle the thread sent with the machine. I just completed my first project with the serger and the finish is great. The machine is so quiet, I can sew while my husband and I are watching TV. I can't believe I waited so long to get a serger but the consolation is that I got such a great machine.
