Fantastic Sewing Machine
I have not sewn since 8th grade and 36 yrs later I could easily recall what I learned on this sewing machine. I followed the directions and I was quickly sewing my pillows with ease. The machine is a quality and durable machine and sews on duck fabric and burlap with ease! I use this machine to sew pillows for my business.

Had to spend $75 to get this machine repaired after less than a year of owning it due to a manufacturer defect. I couldnt exchange it because it had been over 6 months, so i tried to call singer and they wouldnt even take phone calls. Very disappointed in this purchase and i do not recommend. Next time i buy, it will be a Brother unless Singer can make this right!

    Strong and seems durable.
The machine is well built and strong. Its a pity it doesn't come with a case. I had to buy it separately but it was worth the money considering how well it sews. Strong and sews well through denim.

Good machine but seller added non OEM foot pedal
The shipping was faster than estimated, which was helpful even though I was not available to use it for a couple of weeks. I was able to set up the bobbin and thread the machine easily, but could not get the needle threader to do its job, it was faster for me to thread it manually. The biggest concern is the foot pedal, which was not OEM and was in bad condition, there was dirt and sand in the top, and the bottom was missing the plastic feet that keep it in place, which causes it to scratch my floor. I would like to know how to get an OEM foot pedal.

    Singer heavy duty 44s refurbished
It works pretty well. My only issue is I was making a beanie for my nephew and I wanted to add ears but I guess that was too much for the machine. So if you want a real heavy duty machine that's going to go through a lot of layers of cloth i don't think this one is it. But if you want to sew regular clothes like dresses, Shirts, pants etc. this should be more than fine.

    Love It!
Easy to use and works well on leather, faux leather and jeans. My old machine struggled with thicker material, but not this one. Using and threading this machine is not super intuitive, so I recommend watching their videos on YouTube to ger started.

    NOT REFURBISHED
This refurbished Singer 44S was purchased to be shipped to a friend in another state. It arrived quickly in two days...but without needed accessories for it to even sew! It's online description did not state what accessories it included, but the photos on the left side of the webpage show a machine with a buttonhole foot, an all purpose/zig zag foot and the large thread spool cap. It arrived without any of those and also did not have its small spool cap, nor the button sewing on foot, and not the zipper foot either. If you know about sewing machines, you know all those are needed or the machine can't sew. Other small items were also missing, such as a pack of needles and a lint brush, etc. IMHO those are of little concern. The missing accesories could be a one off mistake, but the machine does not even seem refurbished! Even though cosmetically OK, the machine has a straight stitch foot on it and the stitch width was set as wide as it could be set. The tension dial was set to 7. Even a sewist would not set up a machine that way, let alone a tech refurbishing a sewing machine. No way. Strangely, the 44S accessory package does not even have a straight stitch foot as part of its package, so a tech refurbishing the sewing machine would not have left that on there instead of putting on a general purpose/zig zag foot it's supposed to have on it. This is an AS IS machine and not a refurbished one. My friend can't test sew with it to know if it even sews well without the needed accessories. The word accessories sound like these items are superfluous, but they are actually imperative to sewing with the machine. It could have exchanged with this machine picked up by FedEx and another one sent...but the question to online customer service was if this refurbished machine sold and shipped by Walmart is supposed to include accessories or not...since it's not verbally described in its webpage online. The very nice customer service reps could not assure that the machine is to have accessories or not. I've bought several refurbished sewing machines in years past and they were always well set up with everything in their accessories package as offered when new...but that was well explained in their webpages. Online customer gave me the address and phone number to the distribution center and I will certainly contact them tomorrow. Thank you for reading this long review. Hope it helps someone else from an unpleasant surprise.

    Good machine for multiple layers.
Ready to use right out of the box. It is very smooth. I am using it to hem quilts, (2 layers of cloth one layer of polyester fill.) I am also using a heavier upholstery thread. The cloth must be laying smooth to advance for each stich. It could use a more aggressive advance to insure that each stitch is full length.

    Sew cool
I wanted to upgrade from the old clunky brother machine I was using but didn't want to get an industrial size. I love this sewing machine. It's quiet and easy to use once you figure out what you're doing. I have made five quilts on it sew far. See what I did there.

    Decided to keep it!
This is a nice machine. I originally wanted to return it, but decided to keep it. I am an artist and I sew canvas oil paintings using historical patterns and needed a stronger machine. This is delightful.

    Workhorse machine!
I make fabric-wrapped clothesline baskets. This machine is by far the best I've used for them. I've made thousands of baskets, totes, rugs and more with it. I also use it for quilting and other sewing projects. Works great for denim, too.

    Factory Refurbished NOT RECOMMENDED
If you purchase one of the factory refurbished Singer machines don't plan on it having all the accessories that it came with when new. The one I received did not. The one I received also had a bed extension/storage compartment from a different model machine and it does not fit correctly and has sharp edges on the front and back of the machine. These don't have any kind of warranty to deal with issues like this. So it is buyer beware and I don't recommend the factory refurbished Singer machines. You will be sorry of your purchase.

Great sewing machine, really tough! Good price!
This is a great sewing machine if you are not a professional. It will go through thick material. I was sewing canvas and it did great even at the places where the canvas was 4 layers thick. I would recommend this machine to anyone with just a little experience sewing and you will do great. ‍‍

Got this to replace an old Singer from the 90s that needed frequent timing readjustments. The 44S is soooooo fast and didn't skip stitches like my old machine. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I miss the paper manual, even though I found it online.

HAPPY NEW OWNER OF NICE SEWING MACHINE
I was nervous about ordering a sewing machine online, but this process actually gave me TIME to research products on my own. I decided on this basic sewing machine because I only have basic sewing projects. The price was right for my needs, too. I have sewn on this machine already. It was easy to get started and the machine operates smoothly, quietly, and is a nice color. It's always exciting and soothing to the nerves for a new product to be SATISFACTORY. I am very satisfied with my new Singer sewing machine. I have enough experience with my antique Singer threadle machine (110 years old) that threading the machine and bobbin, working with fabric underneath the needle, and recognizing the capabilities of a sewing machine that I went into buying this product with sufficient background not to over-expect performance from the machine and myself!!!! Very good product. Would recommend it highly for simple sewing projects, such as clothes making, crafting fabric projects, and anything that requires straight tight seams, such as baby blankets, etc, tops for quilts, alterations.

    Above My Expectations
This was bought for me as a Xmas present. This is my first sewing machine. The 44s is really nice, heavy duty, super easy to use and it comes with a lot of little extras! Extra foot, needles, cleaning brush, bobbins that are already threaded, some not.. Really nice that Singer does that.. There are instructions that come with it but also a app you can download that provides illustrations. (Singer Sewing Assistant). Made the whole process of learning this machine so much easier. I have already made a couple quilts... practice makes perfect. Would definitely recommend.

    Well known brand!
Singer fortunately has some great YouTube tutorials for their machines, I had to watch the one for the 44S to learn how to use it. I'm a beginner, and everything I learn so far was from the Singer YouTube channel.

    Excellent Machine and purchase
The purchase process was unimaginably simple, my new sewing machine showed up two days after my order was placed. I recommend this machine as it is simple to use, durable, and free of the unnecessary complexities that other machines have. I have been using it to see together canvas and faux fur for Carnival Punks and the machine makes it a breeze even with the thickness of materials used.

    Good Sewing Machine Overall
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Holiday Sewing Contest! This sewing machine has worked pretty well for me. I sew and make children's grow with me pants, I have had some issues with threads breaking which can be a pain but nothing major. It gets the job done. I like the thread stitch options but I tend to stick to only one or two of them. Now I am expanding my business and looking to upgrade to a machine that also does embroidery although I will probably keep this machine as backup. Pictured below are two pairs of baby pants I made with this sewing machine.
