grandson will love it
received in record time, box had some dings and tears, but I expected that from reading other reviews. Son put it together fast, looks great and is very sturdy. Only negative I can say is, no allen wrench included and it's needed to tighten the handlebars...and everything is metric.

Like Everyone else parts were missing
I knew not to buy this online but I could not find it in any store. When it arrived the box was not even sealed and the small box inside that holds the hardware had been ripped open. On the plus side, the manufacturer's phone number is in the assembly manual. I called than and they were super helpful and very knowledgeable. I told them what parts were missing and they sent them right out to me. The product itself seems to be good and if it were available retail I would have given it 5 stars.

    really fun
I bought this scooter to go out with our children when they go out. I didn't like the 20 $ scooters with small hard tires. The handle bars didn't feel stable and every little bump made me feel like the scooter was going to stop and launch me off. This mongoose is very different. Much more stable and glides over much more terrain that the other types. I gave this 4 star rating because the beakes could work better. I'd like to see ths have more stopping power. Very fun nonetheless. I'm 5'5" and 165lbs. Tbis scooter still handled very well and was big enough for me to enjoy

A vg end product, but you might want to pay a pro
Mongoose Expo Scooter. 30 June 14 The Mongoose scooter was a purchase by my son to move up from the standard hard wheel scoots that he has been riding. The 12" wheels are air filled, and help quite a bit as far as shock absorption and cornering traction. The frame is very solid, and I was able to ride it (210#) The downside is in order to put it together properly, you will need to take your time, and be prepared to spend the better part of a day assembling and adjusting. The wheels were completely out of true, and the spokes all needed to be tightened. The wheel hubs were all set too tight and the wheel would only make 2, maybe 3 revolutions before stopping on a spin. The steering head had the same problems with the bearings being too tight. With the wheels straightened, the hub bearings repacked and properly tightened, the wheels spin nice and free. The brakes are another iffy area. They will take a long, long time to break in. One of the problems here is that there is a thick layer of paint on the braking surface of the rim, and it really hurts the stopping distance. Plastic shorty brake levers that flex don't really help either. What I have been doing is spinning the wheel and using sandpaper to take down the paint on the rim, and that has helped. I will most likely put the rims on the drill press or lathe to machine the paint off and speed up the process. Also, the instructions on assembly are not exactly clear. A few tips... the wheel with the stepped washer goes on the back. The wheel with the washer that has the little prong to hook into the frame goes on the front. Use a zip tie to squeeze the pads against the rim when setting your brakes if you don't have a special tool.

Its surprisingly big for my 8 yr old
The instructions say that its good for 8+ yrs kids but its pretty big for my 8 yr old. Assembling was very confusing and painful but it all came out pretty well. There is no stand which is a big inconvinience for such a big bike.

    Great Gift
I bought this scooter for my grandson's 6th birthday. I thought it was a little big for him - but he wanted a "big boy" scooter. I went to the store on his birthday and discovered that it must be ordered on line. My grandson was adamit about getting that particular scooter and was willing to wait the 7 or 8 days it took to arrive - he was so happy. His father put it together the next day and he rode and rode. Two days later, his scooter was stolen from his backyard!!! A police report has been filed and neighbors are keeping a look out! Needless to say, my grandson is heartbroken! So be careful with this one - it must really be a hot item. Be sure to keep it locked whenever it is not in use!

    My son loves it!
I had one of these as a child and logged many miles on mine. The way my sons eyes lit up when he saw it, lets me know he is in love. This is the best deal going. I couldnt find a cheaper one, but even if i could i wouldnt have bought it. Mongoose has been around since i was a child.

great scooter for any type of terrain
The scooter needs some assembly which isn't the easiest because of the difficult intrustions to follow however once its all put together the scooter is very fun to ride. ALso, the brakes take a little extra tinkering but trial and error will resolve learnign how to adjust them.

    Fun Scooter
This is a great scooter. Assembly was a pain in the butt though. The brake lines need to be installed and the instructions made it really complicated for someone who has never built a bike before. Ended up having to take it to a bike shop and pay $20 to have them put the brakes on for me. I absolutely hate the pegs. Everyone in our family has matching bruises on the back of our legs from just moving the scooter, not riding. After it was put together and pegs were removed, my 11 year old son loves it. We are using it for occupational therapy since my son has issues with balance. Really like the wider body and bigger wheels.
