It survived a lightning storm that killed...
It survived a lightning storm that killed two other surge protectors. When you buy a surge protector you are totally at the mercy of the manufacturer of the surge protector, if they work you don't see anything, if they don't work you might loose your $2000.00 TV. I selected APC because they have a good reputation in the electronics engineering world (I am an engineer), this was my way at attempting to get what I paid for. Be aware these types of products are consumables, after they have been exposed to high electrical surges an indicator light should let you know if its time to replace the surge protector. I have two of these units and just ordered a third when I discovered that an old surge protector (not APC) indicates that it is no longer working.

    Installed device but coax In/Out plug just turned
    On the positive side Walmart replaced this APC 11-Outlet Surge Protector immediately. I installed device but coax In/Out plug just turned and turned and turned some more. It wasn't stripped on outside threads but inside housing had nothing securing it and of course no video either. Haven't installed the new replacement yet.....

    Doesn't do what it's suppose to
    This APC 11-Outlet Surge Protector is supposed to have the telephone, dsl and coaxial protection with surgeArrest but it falls short. The plugs are great- a lot of room for my larger plug bases but when I plugged in my phone cord and went out to the devices it's dead, the dsl and phone doesn't work at all! I wanted my phone and dsl to be surge protected but this doesn't work. I didn't try the coaxial part because I only wanted this surge protector for my office. I will be returning since there's no use having such a large footprint for an item that doesn't work for what I need it to, a smaller strip will be sufficient if I can't plug in my phone and dsl.

    Fantastic! Saved my electronics!
    This power surge protector literally saved thousands of dollars worth of electronics. I (being the klutz that I am) tripped with a full glass of juice and it all laded on/in the power strip. So much fluid. It stopped working, shutting down and preventing my electronics from getting damaged AND 24 hours later WAS ON AND WORKING LIKE A CHARM! I could not be more in love with this power strip, best I've ever owned!!!

    *IMPORTANT/READ!*
    **Make sure you register online, AS WELL AS, send in the paper form (filled out) in to them within 10 days after you purchased your APC SurgeArrest. If you don't send in the paper as well as register online, then they won't cover the $300,000 to replace your electronics if fried from a surge/lightning or whatever** I am using one with my home entertainment. As well as another with my gaming PC/modem/Router/etc. They work great!

    Best Surge Protection for the Money
    I have used APC products for over 20 years now, and they still provide the best surge protection for the cost. The measure of surge protection is whether you have had any failures in the connected equipment; that test is passed with flying colors. The secret specification for a really good surge protector is the "Let Through Voltage" number; the lower the better. Cheap units have a 300 volt rating; better units are rated at 80 volts; the best rating I know about is 40 volts and that it the rating of this unit (if you can find where it is documented). Not too many years back, APC made a big deal of this rating and placed it on the outside of the box. I have recently seen this measure identified by APC as the main measure of surge protection performance, but the actual rating number is nowhere to be found on the APC package itself. You just have to know that the "Performance" series is the level where the protection is best. I do not like that this unit is made of plastic, but it does work well.

    APC = Awesome
    The exterior design is awesome and the internal design I am sure is the best in the business. APC builds surge protection, battery backup, and power conditioners for data centers. Yes, I will trust them with the hardware I spent my hard earned money on. The filter inside this thing has cleaned up the noise from my surround sound and my voip phone. The external design has Modem, Router, TV, Blu-Ray player, Voip box, phone, surround systems and still has free outlets. This also comes with Ethernet, Coax, and phone cable. That's worth $20 and then I get this awesome filtered surge protection of one of the highest joule rating I have seen. Also, comes with a few Velcro straps to keep things nice and neat. Awesomely great value and product. Wal-Mart actually beat the price on this thing vs online retailers.

    I have had great results from APC surge protectors
    I purchased this unit to protect a laptop computer and stereo amplifier that had no surge protection. On two different occasions within the past two years my house suffered a major electricity surge. One time lightning hit the electric power line about 150 feet from my house. The other time the electric service cut off due to a storm, and then a minute later the power flashed back on for a half second and then dropped again. In both those incidents an APC surge protector (in my house) was "fried" by the electric surge. But the computer equipment that was plugged into the surge protector was not damaged. The APC surge protector did exactly what it was supposed to do -- saved my equipment. In both cases I phoned APC customer support and they immediately shipped me a new identical surge protector at no cost to me, based on the lifetime warranty they have on their products. After those two incidents I am a real believer in using APC surge protectors to protect electronic equipment -- LCD TVs, computers (both laptop and desktop), microwave oven, coffee maker (with electronic controls), stereo amplifier, and pellet stove (with electronic controls). The cost of the APC surge protector is small compared to what it would cost to replace a device that is damaged or destroyed by a major electric line surge.
