The rod is garbage!!
Bought this rod and reel combo a little over a month ago and just used it for the third time today. I hooked a 3.7 lb bass and the rod snapped in half but I still landed the fish! Headed back to academy to return the two silver max combos that I just bought today because they have the same rods.

    Excellent beginner combo or spare for trips
    Getting back into fishing after almost 10 years, i decided to buy a baitcaster and move away from spinners and spincast. So after looking around and some research i found the black max 7' MH combo at walmart for $59 on sale. I caught probably 7 fish on my first day after finding out a thumb and a couple brake ticks is the secret (again my first ever baitcaster) to using these reels. I still have my original and have actually bought another, one for fluorocarbon and the other for braid (both work really well on the reel). I highly recommend this to beginners or even a reliable reel to take on long trips and dont wanna drag out the $200+ reels and have a turn of bad luck for any reason.

    Only combo I will EVER use!!!!!!
    Best combo to buy and at a great price, I have 3 combos and it is so refreshing to know you don't need to spend hundreds on great reliable quality. Only combo I will buy as long as it is still in production. Lots of memories created with this setup.

    Bought this Combo for my son his first bait cast on the second cast he nails a 4 pounder on a Fluke he fought the fish with ease and was even able to swing him in the boat !!!

    This was my first purchase of a bait caster was real easy to setup and cast. After a few days of fishing with I went and bought another one. I wish that I had bought one sooner for the money you can't beat the price this is a good rig. Will probably be buying a few more in the future.

    Just a good combo for the price and Quality
    I finally bought my first Abu Garcia about 2 months ago! I am so satisfied with my purchase and I only plan on buying Abu Garcia! The product y'all make is really good and it holds up real good i couldn't have ask for a better rod it's casting is really smooth haves a good back bone I run 30 pound braid!It feels and looks really good and it's look like a really expensive combo!
