Versatile and a great addition to my home!
I love this torch! It took a minute to learn how to ignite it with the safety mechanism, but once I figured it out I have found a ton of uses for this in my home. I have used it to repair a necklace that my toddler pulled off of my neck, softening the weather stripping for replacement on my front door, and even carmelizing cinnamon on bananas for my kids. I cannot wait to see what else I can use this for!

Igniter is Junk!
Purchased this a few months ago and finally got around to using it over the past few days for some light soldering projects. Worked great the first few times, then the igniter ceased working...which seems to be a widespread problem based on the numerous poor reviews.

Buyer beware not what they used to be!!!
Hello well it seems bernzomatic forgot how to make torches if you buy one now your crazy looks to me if you go back 3 years you might get a decent torch anything newer the ignition system will malfunction within a few times of using. Just read reviews all the same seems the company can't read or doesn't care I have had two one older lasted a few years newest one looks the same but definitely cheaper made seems we can't trust any old companies we used to buyer beware I will switch to anything other than bernzomatic to bad before the named said it all unfortunately it does again just not in a good way.

    Piez oh no
As a plumber I've had a good experience with the larger Bernzomatic torches (Only reason it wasn't 1 star) but I can't say the same for this one. It worked fine for about a week using it sparingly for crafting until the first time I attempted to use the soldering attachment. (For electronics not plumbing) And not even for that long of time. Just long enough to see how it worked. Since then the ignitor hasn't worked. At all. It clicks like normal but doesn't produce a spray.

Not sure if I would buy again.
Don't know why it happened, but after a couple times of use the igniter quit. It's like it melted off. It can still be lit with another lighter but that's annoying. Not sure if this would fall under a warranty issue or not. I may purchase another one I've had good experiences with the brand torches.

    Great while it lasted
Bought this torch 3 months ago to use for wiring up some drones and a UAV I'm working on for our search and rescue squad here in the Cumberland Plateau area of Tennessee. It's better than the standard soldering iron since it doesn't need to be plugged into the wall, but (yes there is a but) it stopped working at all last night. Cost ended up working out to almost $10.00 per month that it did work. I'm currently shopping for a new one that hopefully will last longer than this one has. Like I said it was great working on a 5 star review until the problems started with the ignition system. It was downhill from there

    Worked well...while it lasted
Primary issue: The ceramic that holds the igniter in place has deteriorated to the point that the igniter is loose and the flame no longer lights on its own. I don't use it daily, or roughly, and the device is well within the 3 year warranty period. It started to have issues yesterday. I noticed little white crumbles coming out of the tip, and i was like what is that...and after closer inspection it appears to be the ceramic that holds the igniter tip in place. Now the thing won't light at all. I try to be fair when assessing products but I do not feel that this device has been used anywhere near enough times this should be happening. Outside of lighting a half dozen fires and taking it camping once, that has literally been the extent of use over a year. And it does not appear that I can buy a replacement part? Even though I think it wore prematurely I am willing to replace it...but if no part is available I'm not buying another. I will try someone else's product.

Not Perfect - Better Than Most
I've had one this torch for a couple of years. This is after a succession of owning models from various other manufacturers. My experience has been that Bernzomatic isn't a premium brand, but is better than most of the torches you'll commonly find. The negative experiences I've had with OTHER torches that I HAVEN'T had with Bernzomatic are: torch melting itself from prolonged use; igniter failing; on switch failing; on switch lock button failing. The one problem I now have with the Bernzomatic that I've also experienced with other torches is a failure of the butane filler valve seal failing. After speaking with Customer Care, I find the torch was manufactured 6-7 years ago. If a 6-7 year life expectancy is acceptable to you, then I'd suggest this torch is fine. If you're looking for more, which I generally do, it may not be acceptable. Certainly considering many products today are designed to operate for 90 days, and considering some of my other Bernzomatic products are over 15 years old and still going strong, this torch is better than most. Other than that, I'd recommend Bernzomatic and buy them again. I have many of their products and for the most part have been happy enough with their performance, especially when compared to common competitors, that'd I'd purchase again. There are better products available, but they come at a higher price.

Cool idea, but it stopped working
Had this portable soldering iron for a little over a month, and then for no apparent reason the igniter stopped working. I'm not sure what happened. I'm wondering if leaving the flame on for long periods is the reason? You have to leave the flame on for long periods though because it takes some time to heat the tip. I've contacted warranty support, but I think looking at other reviews here that this thing is not a good product.

i would not purchase this product
i have only had the torch around 6 months maybe... and now it wont light. the spark still ignites, and the butane flows since i can hear it hissing, but no flame... so i tried to light it with another source,, and the flame was underneath the plastic cover... so shut it down and left it alone... don't need a hand grenade going off in my hand.
