It covers a very small area at a time, so you need to have patience and time to complete a larger job. I would not recommend this for a fully carpeted room. Absolutely fantastic for wood floors, though. This item is used to vacuum a wood floor with a few runners in a retail store and it does its job wonderfully. It is small and easy to handle. I have not needed to use the shoulder strap, so I cannot comment on how that works or the comfort level of using it. Overall, this vacuum so far has been a light, easy to use and efficient little vacuum.
