flimsy lever
the lever that you push down to engage the blade with the can seems very flimsy. If you don't press down correctly it moves outward and feels like it will break. i have only had it a few weeks but feel it wont last. I still gave it 5 stars because nothing has happened yet, and it works well. I do see small shavings which does not seem right either.

Not worth the money
This can opener worked fine for about 2 weeks. After that, the blade wouldn't line up and pierce the inner edge of the can without moving the arm thing in and out. Every so often it will catch, but not without a lot of maneuvering. Not happy with this can opener.

    Very inexpensive for such a quality can opener. I bought the color black to match my kichen style. It's very sturdy when opening a can, mostly it was my first choice to purchase a Cuisinart Brand..

    Chrome Deluxe Can Opener
    I purchased this after reading several reviews and I'm so glad that I did. It's very easy to use and I can open tall cans. I like the design and it's a lot better than the hand-held can opener that I previously had, I couldn't wait to throw that away. The handle is very easy to press down and the can stays in place, but I keep my hand under the bottom just in case. So far, so good.

    I don't agree with the positive reviews.
    I read the reviews of various electric and battery can openers. Based on ease if use & removable blade for cleaning, I bought the Cuisinart. Less than 2 dozen uses it stopped working. After removing the blade/handle I found plastic pieces broken off so the blade couldn't hold the can. I returned the can opener. My impression is it is bot as well made as it should be. I am very pleased with the ergonomic manual can opener I subsequently purchased.

    Decent can opener
    Opens cans easily, don't like the cord storage. On my previous can opener the entire cord went inside. On this one the plug sticks out.

    Why you should never buy this can opener
    This can opener worked correctly for about 3 weeks. Then it failed to work at all. Thanks to the notes in the owner's instructions I learned that it is only useful for easily opened cans. Any can that has a pop top or is shaped other than small and round will result in complete and immediate failure. Don't buy this opener unless you really do not need a can opener at all.

    Unexpected poor quality
    I was disappointed when this opener shredded the paper labels on the can. I was shocked when it cut metal slivers from the can! Fortunately it broke on the 5th can.

    Superior Can Opener
    Best can opener we have ever had! Grips and supports can firmly. Shuts off automatically and magnet holds top when can is removed. Sharpener comes off easily for cleaning.
