Well made tool
Recently, I have been working a lot outdoors and have been working hard to get my yard in shape and that includes doing a lot of weeding and preparing the soil for planting. A lot of the dirt and soil in the flower beds around our home are very hard and even contain some small rocks which make it very difficult for digging up and planting seeds or flowers in. This Steel Cultivator by Expert Gardener has really come in handy! I've been using it to mostly help break up the hard areas of dirt in the flower beds, so I can have small enough and soft enough soil to work with. It's been perfect for the task! The steel prongs easily dig into dirt (even very hard dirt) and won't break or bend. The handle is made from a plastic material, yet it's also very strong and sturdy and I feel it's a quality piece. There's a nice weight to this hand tool without feeling heavy and I like that the thumb rest area has a texture for added grip. It's suggested that this tool can be used for weeding as well as breaking and turning of soil, but I wasn't as successful at removing weeds with it (most likely human error on my part.) I did like it for cultivating my soil, however!

    Great quality cultivator
Can't wait for spring so I can use the steel cultivator. It has a steel design with a nice thick handle that is designed so it is very comfortable to hold. The steel prongs are nicely separated so it will be easy to dig in the soil and pull up weeds or use for planting. The yellow color on the handle will make it easy to find in storage Great quality!

    well built, easy to use
this cultivator is larger than I expected (a good thing), which makes it easier to pull tough weeds out of my lawn. the extra length helps with the torque when twisting the weeds out, which is nice. the main frame of the tool measures 36", and has 2x ~4" blades at the bottom that pull the weeds out. there is a stick at the top that you can push down on that will expel the weeds once you pull them out of the ground (they will be stuck between the two blades with dirt. Overall, I'm satisfied with this tool- I use it all the time to pull cumbersome weeds out of my lawn. I laid down some lawn care/fertilizer, so my weeds havent been as bad as previous years, so I havent had to use this cultivator as much as in those years, and I intend to keep it this way. I've use other cultivators with moving parts that aren't effective- this tool is sturdy, and the only moving parts as far as I can tell is the stick that you push down on to expel the weeds from the tool once they're out of the ground. The rest of it is one single piece, which is what I was looking for.

Great Hand Cultivator With Strong Off-set Tines
We plant many different things each year (except last year when we had a bad drought): seeds, cuttings, sets, seedlings, trees, bulbs, etc. This year planting is well under way, except for direct to ground seed planting which will happen in another month or so. Most plantings involve cultivation of one sort or another, and we use a variety of cultivating tools. Included in the cultivator tool category are hand cultivators. As the first pic below shows, we have several hand cultivators, including the Expert Gardener Steel Cultivator, pictured on the far right. Our oldest hand cultivator is on the far left and it is chromed steel with a wooden handle. The other two older cultivators are aluminum. All of the older cultivators work ok, but the new Expert Gardener Steel Cultivator has some advantages: the handle grip is cushioned and comfortable, the tines are very sturdy, the tines are off-set which makes cultivating easier in soil with rocks or clods. Overall, this is a very good hand cultivator and will get plenty of use this year and in the years to come. I definitely recommend this cultivator to others.

    Great
This is a very sturdy and durable cultivator, Iv bought others only to find them bending too easily. We use ours for bottle digging and metal detecting and it's a big help digging gently to get delicate items out of dirt and debris. It feels heavy duty in the hand you can feel the higher quality in it. It has a good size hole in the top of the handle so it's easy to hang if you want. The tines are well spaced as to not let too much through yet just the right amount. It's a very solid item that will last years to come. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone.

    A return to quality
This is the type of construction from a century ago with modern features. This is a tool to be proud of. I was having trouble lifting a rusted stuck lid on a check valve (cast iron pipe). I tried everything to get it open. It took two us to do it – one to hold the claw in place on a very small lip of the lid and the other to lift up. This was the only tool strong enough to reach and handle the pressure. The handle has great grip and balance and the claw is heavy duty thick metal. This will easily handle garden work for what it is meant for. It will last and won't break when you hit a root or rock. And the weight will allow you to pull up unwanted visitors to your garden without bending or breaking. This tool is meant to last. I love my “claw”.

    well made
This cultivator is well made and very useful. I used it to make a flowerbed and it dug up the soil very easily. It is made of heavy metal and solid plastic handle. I can tell it will last for years. I was surprised how well made it was. I would recommend this to any gardener.

    Sturdy and well built
I am an avid gardener and I always have mixed feelings about cultivators. On one hand I think they are great for weeding smaller areas and allow you to work areas without disturbing plants you want to stay. But, sometimes they require more arm work and squatting/kneeling which can be a literal pain if you are working for long periods of time. I was surprised at how heavy this cultivator felt in my hands when I first held it. The handle is ergonomic and allows for a comfortable grip. Once I started working the soil with it, I realized that the weight of the cultivator was an asset as it really allowed it to dig down and pull up the roots with ease. The angled tips of the spokes are great at grabbing roots and it made weeding my front area bed quick! It normally takes me an hour to weed it, but it cut that time in half!

Good garden tool, feels very solid
Good quality cultivator with well-space tines. While I'm not certain, it feels like the metal is a solid unit into the handle, which should prevent the handle the tool from separating from each other. Works quite well, and feels good in the hand - even has a little spot for your thumb (ribbed, so it doesn't slide off as easily.) For me, the only downfall of this is the color. It's yellow, which isn't bad - but after a day in the mud, it's a dirty yellow that doesn't clean up very well. Alas, pretty much all hand tools are similiar in this regard. Overall - good garden tool; would recommend!

    wonderful tool
My first impression upon opening the box was that the Expert Gardener Steel Cultivator was very sturdy. It is heavier than others I have had in the past that did not last a season. The handle is comfortable to use with a glove on or off. There is no slipping on the handle. You can also use it when yours hands are wet or dirty and not lose your grip. I use it in last years potted plant pots to break up the hard soil. I was able to make the soil loose and airy for the new plantings. I was able to remove all of the tiny weeds, old roots and debris from the potting soil. The 3 tines are wide and long to get into the dirt so I can plant the new vegetable plants. The 3 tines seem to be coated with a material that will not rust from year to year. This is a big plus since my other cultivators have rusted and fallen apart. The top of the handle has a big eyelet so you can hang it on a big nail or hook. This is a wonderful gardening tool for someone in a wheelchair on their deck. I received the Expert Gardener Steel Cultivator as a test product from Walmart Spark and would recommend it to anyone needing a new gardening hand tool.
