Just ugh....
Ok. I'll make it simple. If you enjoy blue error screens (shown below) and restarting your game multiple times a day, this game is for you. If not, STAY AWAY. Do NOT buy this game. It's awful. I created this Walmart account so I could hopefully talk at least one person from wasting their time and money on this game. You have been warned.

Total garbage, NOT a Fallot style game.
I truly have no idea what they were thinking when they created this game, especially considering all of their other games sold so well with the type of platform and style they were built around. This is nothing like any of the Fallouts that have been created in the past and is total complete utter garbage. And I welcome a game that has the option to play online but it's still should be created like the old style where it can be solo played without an internet connection. And of course just like a lot of game is coming out today it is a pay to play game that you are always going to be forking out money for if you want to compete against everyone else who is doing the same. I am a huge massive fan of the Fallout franchise like Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 being two of my favorites. this is so far from that style of game that it shouldn't even be called Fallout.

    Improved, but still not great
I actually pre-ordered this game on XBox One, and it was the last game I ever pre-ordered. It felt less like a new game, and more like a poor multiplayer DLC for Fallout 4. My fiancee saw me playing, and called it "zombie hiking simulator" (a very apt name). I sold my copy to Gamestop for a dollar or two, before Wastelanders was released. I decided to give it a second chance. I was immediately disappointed to learn that Bethesda does not offer cross-play, or even cross-save. The game definitely runs smoother now, and there's more to do, but it's still nothing special. I'd almost rather just replay Outer Worlds, than this game.

Despite the Nay-Sayers, This is a great game.
First, don't listen to people complaining about "its not the wastelanders edition". That's just a fancy cover on the case and maybe a skin or two for in game. ALL of the copies of this game are the same, and ALL players get the Wastelanders DLC, as well as the Brotherhood of Steel DLC and any other content in the future.. for free. Which brings me to my second. There is no subscription needed to play. At all. The only subscription service is Fallout 1st, which is completely optional, and only about 1/10th of players (if that) even use it. And all it does really is give you a private game option, some Atoms every month to buy stuff in the Atoms store (which can be earned in game or bought like any other games currency on PSN), and an unlimited scrap box to hold all your scrap junk separately from your stash box. A nicely, but not necessary. As for the game? Yeah.. it was buggy at first, but has gotten much better. People complaining of lack of NPC interaction didn't pay attention to the games intro storyline. If you're among the FIRST people to leave the vaults.. what NPC's are you gonna find?? Well that changed over time as they introduced new DLC and storyline, now there's tons of NPC's. It IS an online multi-player world, so don't expect it to be like other fallout games in every way, but for the most part.. very similar. It's an amazingly fun game with tons to do. Daily, Side, Main, and Misc. Quests. Daily Ops. Daily and weekly challenges for "score" which is basically currency for 100 unlocks every season (paints, skins, Atoms, outfits, aid and tools, cosmetics, C.A.M.P items, and much more), a TON of challenges to earn more perks and Atoms, hundreds of creature types, several hundred weapon and armor mods and attachments, legendary items (which can also be crafted now), build your own camps, change your abilities on the go with perk cards, and much much more. Really fun game, especially if playing with friends, and if you get fallout 1st, private games with friends are even better. Game has tons of support, constant updates with new content (all free), and an always updated atom store to spend your Atoms in for more stuff. I've had the game since launch, and it's always getting bigger and better. So do yourself a favor, get this game.. especially for $8? That's a no-brainer. Give the game a few hours to really start to get the feel for it, you'll love it. Oh.. forgot to mention it also has a Battle Royale mode called Nuclear Winter. For those who like BR games.. this is a fun one, totally fallout style, and any experience you earn in NW carries over to your character in adventure mode, as long as its the same character. (You can have several). Give it a go. And if you don't like it.. well.. it's $8. Still better than the $30-60 digital versions on PSN Store.

    Received Chinese copy of game
This isn't a review of the game, but of the product I received. I specifically ordered the Wastelanders version of Fallout 76. Not only did I not receive that version, I got the Chinese version of the base game. And yeah, I guess the PS4 isn't region locked, but I don't want to deal with any complications there might come from playing a foreign version, especially if I wanted to do online purchases. So yeah...I bought the game through Walmart from a third party. I never had this problem before but I'm going to be more nervous about making similar purchases going forward.

    Buyer beware
This is not a wastelanders edition. If you are buying to get the wastelanders content and add ons look elsewhere. My son was very disappointed because he was wanting the extra features.

    Switched version
This is NOT the Wastelanders version. This is for the old version that I already have. I collect Fallout so I only bought it for the "Wastelanders" on the front cover. The original 76 is an okay game but not as good as Fallout 4.
