This unit has been a lifesaver!
During one of the most hottest summers on record our central AC unit died! Having to wait almost 2 months for covered warranty parts to be shipped I ordered this GE portable AC to keep my bedroom cool. I'm very impressed how well this unit has kept my room cool even on 100 degree days. The WiFi feature is very convenient as I can control the unit even when away from home. It took only about a week to get use to it running and now it's more like “white noise”. I highly recommend getting this portable AC.

Arrived broken
The AC arrived broken and assembled incorrectly. The top was totally bent and unable to be slipped into place. The air fins also where bent and unable to sit flush. For the price of this unit I expected better. I'm disappointed and angry, which is only made worse because it's HOT INSIDE MY HOUSE. :( Now I get to go through the hassle of trying to fit this thing into a car that's too small for it to take back to a FedEX pick up store.

    Horrible situation. Bad unit and bad company
    It worked until it didn't. Then GE, the maker and the company still the unit was under warranty with, pulled out every stop to not honor the warranty. At the beginning, the unit worked just fine. Then, it started shaking when the compressor came on, a vibration, like the motor shaft became warped, which made it loud. 9 months into the year warranty, GE started and kept sending me emails stating that my warranty was soon out and that I need to purchase a new warranty to keep it under coverage. Finally, at the beginning of July 2022, it froze up. The compressor didn't shut down and cycle off. I tried using the plugs to drain it after the ice melted, but no water came out. The water had gone over the drain area and went in the base and on my carpet. After clean up, I tried running it again. I will point out that my son and I kept the filters and vains clean, and opened the drains regularly to get any dirt, dust and water out. I noticed that the light that 8nd8cated the ac compressor was cooling would not come on while it was clearly in cool mode. It froze up again. I went for a 3rd time to verify, and sure enough, the compressor stayed running and froze again. My wife and I both called the numbers we were given for the unit warranty. We were both given the run around that the unit was no longer under warranty, then, it was, but GE wouldn't repair it. Then GE wouldn't replace it. Then we were to get a direct deposit to our bank account. Then, GE would have someone repair it. Then GE said they would swap it out. Then GE said the unit wouldn't be back in stock until Novembwr, but Walmart had several in stock. Then GE said they would send a check with a crew to pick it up. We called that company, and they knew nothing about it. Then they knew about the pickup but not about delivering the check. Then they said the pickup crew was three stops away form pickup. That never happened. Supposedly, the truck broke down. Now, we are waiting for another scheduled pickup and delivery. GE used to be a company you could trust. Apparently, not anymore. I could blame Walmart for being blind to one of their biggest suppliers of home goods, but it ultimately is not their fault. This mess falls squarely on GE. $400 wasted. Wrapping it up. We were able to 2 to 3 months of light use at night in a small bedroom. It failed miserably, made a mess, and then GE dropped the ball continuously. Stay away from this unit and GE.

    Horrible stay away the negative reviews are real!
    This is a replacement 2nd unit failed just after the 90 days return. Something is very wrong with these units. Calling GE for warranty is imposible. You'll wait for hours I'm still to get through. In short, lost money. GE isn't what it used to be... Unbelievable ...!

    NEVER BUY THIS, a waste of money
    DO NOT BUY. First, the drain at the bottom, that FREQUENTLY needs to be drained, is so low to the ground, you must lift the air conditioner up or roll outside and tilt. But that is the least of it. Although I have had this just over 1 year (so of course out of warranty) it has not had that much use. Suddenly I started hearing water splashing around and realized that the fan/blower has water collecting all around it. It starts spewing water all over the room out the vent whenever it starts to fill with water, which as stated above is frequently, every 12 hours of use or so. As it starts to fill with water, there are clicking and clanging noises, the air coming out warms up and does not cool.. just warm air and a mist of water being put out that collects around the vent and then drips all over the floor. The newest issue as of this morning.. the entire things is a block of ice in the back.. everything is frozen solid. This is a waste of money. I will never buy GE again, their washing machine I bought is not much better!

    Do not purchase this unit
    We purchased this unit to replace one purchased in August 2021, it went out in June 2022. It was one of TWO units we had bought at the same time in August 2021. The 2nd unit went out a week after the first one. We only repurchased the same unit since it was required to get a refund from GE on the first units. However, the refund was for the original cost (not including taxes), so we are still out the difference in price PLUS the associated taxes. The units work great.........until they don't. We are hopeful the 2nd set of units will work much longer than 10 or 11 months. Disappointed in the quality of the items, disappointed in GE for not standing behind their products when it is VERY obvious there is a manufacturing issue when two units go out within one week of each other. Would I recommend the product? No..........

    Don't recommend
    Product arrived early and set up was simple! Immediately after opening noticed a few small scuffs we though was just from packaging and dismissed it since everything was packaged properly! After a week of use the product started shutting off, after inspection and researching we tried cleaning filters, and checking the drain, nothing was there. Opened the back panel and found dents and damaged to the inside of the ac unit. These were not caused by us. emailing customer service this week to see what can be done!

    Exactly what I expected!
    Cold air with high speeds. It keeps my living room cold all day and I have a pretty big living room. For me it's not too loud, after all, I do love white noise. I highly recommend it.
