This HP Stream laptop is 14" laptop that is great for work or school. It has a 14" (non-touch) HD screen. I find 14 inches to be the perfect size laptop since anything bigger is really heavy to lug around and 14" is just light enough while still being big enough to watch videos on. It has an Intel Celeron processor which is basic, 4 GB of RAM (not huge) and a 64 GB MMC hard drive (nice). It has Bluetooth which is great for connecting an external keyboard or other devices. It comes with Windows 10 and I like how it starts up really fast. It also comes also with one year of Microsoft Office 365 Personal which on top of the office apps (Excel Word etc) includes 60 Skype minutes per month and 1 TB of OneDrive space. The webcam is nice for having video calls via Skype or Zoom and the battery lasts really long. HP has always been a strong brand and this seems to hold true even with their lower end products like this one. I would not recommend this product users doing intensive gaming or excessive multitasking only because of the processor and RAM, but overall, this is a really strong laptop for anyone using it for school, home, or light work use. And you cannot beat the price! Who needs Black Friday when you can get this price all year!

Great laptop for school or home
Great Little Laptop!
I received this HP Stream 14 Celeron Laptop and noticed how lightweight it is. I also noticed how attractive the rose pink color is. This HP laptop was so easy to set up. The laptop walks you through every step of the way. I loved that all my information from my old laptop was immediately installed as well, so I have access to all my pictures and documents that were on my old laptop. This HP laptop comes with Windows 10 in S mode and it has a 14 inch screen. It is WiFi ready and has Bluetooth capabilities. The processor is an Intel Celeron with 4GB of system memory and 64GB of storage. This laptop comes with one year of Office 365 Personal which is wonderful. I am able to use the Excel to do financial reports now at home. You also get 60 monthly Skype minutes and 1TB of OneDrive storage. It comes with 3 USB ports and a memory card slot. It has a security cable slot an HDMI slot and an audio in/out jack for your headphone or microphone use. It has a built in camera as well. I couldn't find anything I didn't like about this laptop and so I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great laptop.
The name "Stream" fits
It's name fits it appropriately. This Stream laptop from HP is perfectly suited for streaming video's, video calls, Email and all manners of media using a HD screen. It is not meant to be a workhorse laptop with it's 64GB eMMC storage and doesn't even have a CD/DVD optical drive but has it's niche between the tablets and a heavier, bulkier laptop. It will be a excellent choice for highschool or college students. It comes with whats needed the most, a camera with mic,3 USB slots,HDMI cable output,a headphone jack and a sd card slot.I did not care for our 11" screen notebook and used mostly our low resolution tablet when streaming video's but I prefer this 14" notebook/laptop over it and our 16" laptop. This HP Stream is thinner and lighter and is almost as portable as our tablet. If your afraid it won't have the storage space to handle the workload you may have for it, just slide in a high capacity SD card or flashdrive. A few other notes, I noticed this Stream has much better battery life than my larger gaming laptop and even my 10.1"tablet which a big plus.Startup is very fast like my laptop with a Solid State drive. The only improvement I can think of at this time would be either backlite keys or glow in the dark markings as it would be easier to use in dim lit areas for bedtime video veiwing that I do alot of.
Very happy with this computer!
This computer is great. I don't know anything about all the technical stuff on it as far as memory, speed, etc. I do know it's working great. We use it for streaming from Netflix, Hulu, etc, and playing Sims. My kids put I don't know how many different mods on the computer to play with the Sims games, and it hasn't effected speed or how well the computer works at all. The streaming aspect has clear pics, not alot of buffering or issues. We've just been able to start a movie and watch, no problems or frustrations. Great picture quality also. Same for the Sims...it's working great for both. The pics I included show both the game and a movie. Quality of the pic isn't the best because it was a cell phone taking a pic of the computer so the actual picture quality and much better than what shows in the picture I've includede. We are very pleased with this laptop!
Great Laptop, Beautiful Color!
I absolutely LOVE this HP Stream laptop! The rose pink color is so pretty. The laptop is very thin and lightweight which makes it great for traveling. The set up was very easy and only takes a few minutes, the cortona feature also walks you through every step. The picture quality on this laptop is excellent. The pictures and colors are crisp and vivid. This laptop has no lagging and quickly opens any app or document. The search bar in the corner is great; you can easily find anything you are looking for with a quick search of the computer. It also comes with one year of office 365 which is an awesome bonus feature. This laptop gets great internet connection and a really impressive picture so it is perfect for streaming shows or movies. It also has a camera on it so you can video chat with friends or family easily. This laptop has everything I need! It is a very sleek design in a beautiful color. I highly recommend this laptop to everyone!
Love the color
This laptop is perfect for me! I have online classes, and the fact that it's so compact and light makes moving around a breeze. I love the Rose pink color! The added streaming capability makes it easy to stream my favorite tv shows. The battery last what seems like forever. I can leave it unplugged for up to 10 hours (perfect for traveling). I bought a hard cover for it as well because it's so light, and East to drop. My kids also use it for their homework sometimes, and it's easy to switch between our assignments with it's ease of access!
Great for streaming and internet access
This laptop has a beautiful 4K display and a large 14” screen. This laptop runs windows 10 and is very easy to maneuver. This laptop also has voice command enabled, making setup a real breeze. I think this laptop is perfect for a student or someone who doesn't intend to do any gaming as it isn't very powerful (but has no issues streaming or browsing). The sound is very clear but it's also easy to connect headphones via Bluetooth or the jack provided. I would absolutely recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a nice laptop at a decent price. Its really pretty too! An dusty pink color. It's honestly worth every penny. I did receive this for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
An adequate Laptop for students
Before you consider buying this laptop computer, you need to understand that it is configured with a Windows 10 S-mode operating system. What this means is that you will not be able to install any third party drivers or programs, and that you are restricted to installing apps from the Windows Store only. This particular laptop has been streamlined for performance and security.
Since this laptop can only install apps and programs from the Windows Store, be prepared to incorporate a lot of workarounds for this limitation. For example, I could not install my printer's drivers so that I can enjoy wireless functionality and features as usual. Instead, I will now have to plug the printer directly into the laptop's USB port for printouts. Another example involved the popular Zoom app. I downloaded it from Zoom's website and tried to install it, but I couldn't. This was very frustrating, and I had to spend many hours researching this problem until I finally found a workaround.
The sound output from onboard speakers is low, but the headphone loudness was good. The built-in microphone is barely adequate, and the laptop's 720p Webcam video quality is poor at best. I joined in on a Zoom teleconference meeting with my family from another state and the video (from my end) lacked color and appeared 'washed out'. At some points it was so grainy that I was hardly recognizable. This was a let down for me because in this day and where the Coronavirus pandemic has greatly necessitated the need for video conferencing technology, I will not likely be using this laptop to host any business-related meetings.
I plugged this laptop into my 50 inch Ultra HD LED TV (by way of HDMI ports) and the Youtube videos looked absolutely gorgeous. I was able to stream full 4k movie/video content without any issues.
Fast Battery Recharging
Streamlined for Security
Great Protection from System Viruses
Excellent Battery Life
Good for Students (especially K-12)
Very Lightweight and Compact
Cannot Install Third-party Apps
No Keyboard Backlights
Poor Speaker Quality
Not Suitable for 'Power Users'
You do have the option to leave or switch off the Windows 10 S-mode. This would then allow you to install the apps that you want to install and, in effect, remove all of the restrictions that are presently on it. However, be warned that this is a one-way street and that you can never return the system back to Windows 10 S-mode. The built-in security feature will also be compromised as well.
I would advise against this because the system will no longer be efficient, and the preconfigured 4 GB RAM may actually lower the performance of which it was intended if it was replaced with a more resource hungry Windows 10 operating system.
This is most unfortunate because this system could probably benefit from a RAM upgrade, but I was informed by HP that the RAM cannot be increased. However, this is not actually a problem given that this Windows 10 S-mode system has been especially designed and streamlined. There may be also other backlashes and/or consequences too that I'm not presently aware of.
My recommendation is clear: if you are a Windows power user and must have third-party apps and programs installed that requires their own drivers then this is not the kind of laptop you want. However, if you are a novice user who requires only a secure but basic system and is also budget minded then this laptop is for you.
The low price of this machine represents an excellent value for money and does a good job for what it is intended for.
Not all great, but not bad either
Comes with Microsoft Windows 10S which only allows MS apps (from the MS store) to be loaded and uses Microsoft Edge browser. I successfully switched off of S mode and was able to bring in the apps I prefer to work with.
According to HP, general set up will take about 2 hours and may need you to reach out to HP Help.
Setup is not as easy as it should be. It comes with apps which Microsoft believes you should have and getting them replaced is not a simple or quick task for general users. Replacing MS Edge takes some effort as well. Seems everything is put together to make sure you use Microsoft only and other programs cannot or will not play well with Microsoft Windows 10S.
My laptop had no sound, although the programs were supposedly loaded; files where empty. I had to contact HP, they immediately told me to remove 2 program files, and replace them via a download link they sent me which corrected the issue.
After you're done setting up your laptop I highly recommend you look for updates. There are a ton of updates that need to be loaded which you are not made aware of. After updating recheck your settings. I found the privacy settings I setup went back to default which allows the collection of your information on how you use your laptop.
Runs slower than expected.
Crashed a few times during updates.
A bit heavier than other 14' laptops, this one weighs in at 3.1 pounds.
Top is strong and doesn't flex when open.
13-1/4” W x 8-7/8” D x 5/8” thick closed size.
There are 3 USB ports on the side, a full-size HDMI port, and SD card slot.
You will only have about 30 gigabytes of usable storage on this laptop since Windows uses about 32 gigabytes.
You cannot play most games on this laptop.
I tested its battery life by running the laptop with email, Word, and YouTube open but not necessarily running all the time. Battery was run down after 6 ½ hrs. It took just about 2 hours to fully recharge the battery. Battery life will depend on individual use.
If you're happy using only Microsoft programs and Microsoft Edge for light use, this computer should be fine, in that case I would recommend it. If there are certain programs you are wanting to install and run, check the requirements of the program to this laptops processor, resolution, and storage space to make sure it can handle it.
This is a nice laptop for school, or travel, nothing fancy about it, and not expensive.
Slow. Microsoft S mode is impossible to get around
I really wanted to like this laptop. It was pretty and pink and a manageable size. Unfortunately, the setup took so long because you have to suffer through Cortana and then you also have to figure out how to disable Microsoft s mode. This means that you have to give up your phone number and an email and do an email verification. To the extent that you have the patience to be successful with that part then you still have to get to an acceptable browser in my case I wasn't patient enough to wait for the workaround so I used Microsoft edge. I accessed my Gmail account. The computer is frustratingly slow. Then I looked at the specs and realized it has the exact same processing power as my cell phone. In fact I think it may have less. I can't see a reasonable use for this computer in my house. This might be suitable for a teen preteen who is just beginning to work with computers and word processing, but if you need more than that this is not the computer for you.
