Bought for my Wife,She loves coffee, and loves it
She wanted this one because it did the full pot and the k cups for cheaper then a regular kurig machine, works fast makes the coffee hot(which was why we were in the market for a new one old one wasn't getting hot enough)her only complaint is she wishes you could fill the resevoir with water and make multiple k cups in a row, you can only add 10-14 oz for the single side or you get an error other than that she loves it would recommend highly

I Don't Like Drinking Melting Styrene
The product is a good idea but the design has a problem in that the K-cups melt or deform in the process. Obviously the temperature has been set too high as the cups come out deformed and your coffee has the smell and taste of polystyrene. Can't be healthy but the company isn't taking responsibility so you'll have to run the thing back to Wallymart . I sent an email to Hamilton Beach who told me. "The K cups can deform due to being squeezed when being punctured and there is often some deformation due to the hot water flowing through - however the water temperature is not hot enough to melt the plastic. I have seen this topic from other consumers where they perceive the K cup to be melted but that really is not possible." Thank you. Lukewarm coffee
The carafe side makes a nice, hot cup of coffee. I did not have any of the issues with "plastic taste" that others had. My issue is with the single serve side. The temperature of the brewed coffee from the single side is warm, not hot. I have to put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds to bring it up to "hot". I checked the temp with a instant read thermometer, twice. Came out at 147 degrees and 154 degrees. H-B assured me that it comes out between 175 and 180. I thought that the unit might be defective. After much discussion, they sent me a replacement. Guess what? Same issue. Well, I guess I will continue to microwave the single serve for 20 minutes. It's an issue that I can live with. All in all, the coffeemaker is "OK", not great. Check the pics for brewed water coming right out of the single-serve side.

This Coffee Pot has Several Issues
We purchased this coffee pot about 6 months ago from our local Walmart. Given the brand and the price, we figured this would be a nice upgrade from our older model. We were wrong. From the very get go, we had issues. First of all, be prepared to run A LOT of pots of clean water through this thing. Make sure to run at minimum ten pots of fresh water through in order to remove the taste of plastic. It's horrid tasting. Second of all, as others have stated, the design is just bad. Having to use one cup of water for 1 Kcup is just stupid. The single serve side is completely useless. Also, make sure that you run clean water through that a bunch of times or it will taste like burning plastic. Third, the main reservoir lid on the top must get too hot because it's now warped. I will add a picture so you can see what I mean. All in all, I have had $15 coffee makers that work better than this one does. Don't let the higher price or the stainless steel trick you into thinking that you are buying a quality appliance. You're not. I advise anybody to not buy this product.

    Single cup don't work
Single cup don't work . When trying to fix a cuppa coffee the first couple times it worked but after that nothing but staying all the water you put in evaporates the regular coffee pot side works great not to mention it is not meant for large coffee mugs adding water to the reservoir my only takes a small amount of water it's not worth the money the trouble or the headaches

    Purchased ~ 6 months ago ......
I bought this product for its versatility but honestly the pod portion was more for our daughters when they came home from college for visits. This is where I am at fault. I didn't bother to buy pods to try out that side of the machine since they usually have their own preferred brands, so it was a couple of months before that side of the machine was utilized. My husband and I use the full pot side. All worked as it should for about 3-4 times on the POD side before we started having issues. The steam apparently got so hot that it warped the plastic carrier/holder that it would not got into the machine without "pinching" the pod top making it useless. I contacted Hamilton Beach inquiring & to find out that I can purchase a replacement holder for another $10 plus $10 for shipping. Not happy but cheaper then replacing a $80 coffee pot. Once again, this time after about a dozen uses the plastic again became warped and "pinched" the pods and disbursed the water all over the machine and floor. After much finagling I managed to hold down the pod cup and get it in the machine without it pinching! That was the last cup of coffee I attempted to make with the POD side. Apparently, the water/steam backed up into the machine before disbursing warped the plastic water level and warped the cover to the coffee basket. The machine now reads it has more water in it than it does - this makes it impossible to use the SINGLE basket portion of the POD side because it will only allow so much water in the holder or it will not work and displays an ERROR message. You can see the maximum levels in picture 2. Since I am limited to only 2 pictures, I will assume you, the reader can visualize the warped lid on the full size basket portion. Picture 1 is the pinching, and two the frozen level reader.

Good product with some design flaws
Pros: 1) only need one coffee machine on counter top; 2) has loose coffee grounds basket for single cup included and it works great; 3) it works pretty good once you understand the limitations. Cons: 1) heater under large pot comes on when using single cup side of coffee maker; 2) has problems with some K-cup brands (pods that have K-cup top but only filter on bottom, these pods appear to be over packed, which results in half a cup of coffee and steam/hot water pressure release when removing pod), but works good with normal K-cup designs; 3) can only put in max 10 ounces of water for single cup. Which means you can't have a full reservoir of water and use the single cup side of machine. It appears to be a safety feature, so it just won't work. 4) If pod clogs, be careful about removing K-cup holder. This will cause the backed up hot water to be released into the K-cup, resulting in hot water entering unsealed K-cup and washing coffee grounds out the hole in the top of the K-cup and down into your cup of coffee.

    Excellent coffeemaker for the price!
I bought this coffemaker to replace my poor Keurig. I must say the ONLY reason that I didn't replace it with another Keurig is because there are times when I want to brew a full pot and have to drag out the second coffeemaker. This was the best of both worlds. The first thing that drew me to this coffemaker was that it accepted K-cups. Here's one of 2 reasons I didn't give it an Excellent rating, even though I love it. It's very tricky to use the reusable K-cups in this machine. I have several and I like keeping those little pods on deck. The single side can accept the throw away cups with no problem, however. The second reason I didn't give it an Excellent rating is that the water management can be a little tricky. I wish that, like my Keurig, the single side was intuitive to how much water it needs to brew a single cup. Instead, you have to ensure that you put the EXACT amount of water needed for your single cup into the water resevoir. Any more and you have a mess. Outside of those minor irritations, the coffemaker is terrific. I love the regular or bold setting. I love the programmable feature and, even with the little quirks, I love being able to have a single cup of decaf or flavored coffee without being forced to brew an entire pot but that I do have the option to brew an entire pot without dragging out an entirely different piece of equipment. All around, a great buy!

    All around good coffee maker
The Hamilton Beach FlexBrew is a great coffee maker. It has met my expectations and exceeded them. I've made half and full pots of coffee, used k-cups, made single serve with scooped coffee grinds and have also made tea using k-cups. I've had the pot 2-3 weeks and have yet to find any flaws but because of the small amount of time owning it I can't comment on it's durability hence I've given it four out of five stars. It makes a hot pot of coffee and keeps it that way, shuts off after two hours as stated, makes hot k-cup or single serve, is programmable so you always wake up to a nice hot pot of coffee. As far as value, expectations, and appearance go I would definitely recommend buying this coffee maker.

    Great 2-way coffee maker
We have used the single serving side quite a few times and it takes some practice to adjust the coffee ground to your liking. We don't use the premade coffee serving pods. We've used the 12 cup side for making tea. We haven't used it yet for coffee. When we received the coffeemaker it had 2 small dents on the side, so I placed an order for a new one. The lid to the 12-cup filter is a little flimsy.
