Amazing Sound
My family absolutely loves watching movies and listening to music around the house. This soundbar totally delivers plus there is much more to this soundbar then I expected. I was not expecting the front of the soundbar to have a display to let me know exactly what my sounds effects can be. Even when I shut it down it tells me Good Bye. The subwoofer is amazing and great looking as well. The way it looks is sleek and very elegant looking and blends together with my LG TV as well. I do have to say that my favorite part of this soundbar has to be the Google Assistant. Ever since hooking this soundbar up I have made Google play music for me and work with my TV. This gadget has made our life just a little easier and sound better than ever. I truly believe this is one of the best soundbars out there today and so happy I made the purchase. LG SL8YG Initial Review
We were excited to add the LG SL8YG soundbar to our home theater as it provides Dolby Atmos along with DTS:X options that our previous setup did not offer. After receiving the new soundbar we found the packaging to be well thought out and it provided ample protection for the contents. Initial thoughts on the hardware immediately after unpacking was that the soundbar itself seemed solidly built with a nice metallic finish, however, the subwoofer provided me with some doubts due to it being very lightweight. Install was straightforward and I found the HDMI ports to be easily accessible. PROS: -Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support -Build quality on soundbar only -Easily programmed to accept volume controls from other brands remotes -Designed to use the factory remote, LG Speaker phone app or Google Home app -Sound clarity on high resolution audio -Subwoofer bass quality outperformed my expectations -HDMI ARC capability works well CONS: -Only one HDMI input -Overhead (top) speakers lose the directional aspect a few feet away from the soundbar -Factory remote seems very counterintuitive for a “non-techie” -Standard sound setting requires a much higher volume vs. others -No clear method of checking for firmware updates -Consistent audio syncing issues that the delay settings don't resolve Overall, we are very happy with our decision and after some demonstrations with some friends they are in agreeance. The benefits of having Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for our home is important as we were early adopters of 4k TV and UHD Blu-Ray.     Beautiful picture and awesome sound
    A few weeks ago I purchased this 65 inch lg flat screen tv and the optional lg sound bar with sub woofer and I was amazed by the Quality of the picture and blown away by the awesome sound. It is pre loaded with tons of smart features that are very simple to use, the tv's smart features pretty much set it self up when plugged in. This setup is like owning a second computer. I paid a good dollar for this complete setup but it's well worth the money. When it comes to certain items I believe you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this setup to anyone who is looking for a great smart tv and Surround sound bar. Sincerely Rafael.

    LG blows away the competition
    So I bought the 3.1.2 SL8Y soundbar from LG and holy cow what a soundbar it is. I have owned other soundbar brands out there from high end names and while they were nice and had good bass, this soundbar beats them. It has three front firing speakers that make up the 3, 1 7" sub that makes up the 1, and two upward facing speakers that make up the 2 for 3.1.2. This soundbar is Dolby Atmos capable and man is it awesome. Dolby Atmos turns sounds into objects that are projected to you, unlike traditional surround sound. With traditional 5.1, the front speakers will lower their volume and read speakers will raise it to make it feel like the sound is around you. With this, it determines where sound should be and projects it to that location instead. It really is something that has to be heard to fully understand. The sub is awesome as well. It is wireless and can be set away from the soundbar, but not too far or else it looses the signal. The sub however is powerful and can shake the house if you want it to. The sound bar comes with an optical cable if you have an older TV that supports optical. It also has 2 HDMI ports with 4K pass through. This allows you to hook a 4k device to it directly and then will pass video to the TV. The second HDMI port is an ARC port. This allows you to hook up to the TV and have the sound go through that port for all HDMI devices plugged into the TV. This is the preferred method to use as it can transfer sound over a highspeed/highbandwidth HDMI cable, allowing for high quality lossless sound. You can also connect to the soundbar via Bluetooth, or wireless. One awesome capability this system has is the ability to add a set of wireless rear speakers. If you find that you want a more immersive experience than you are already getting, LG sells a wireless rear speaker set that can be added to this system. Another nice addition to this soundbar is the Google Assistant. You can say 'Hey Google' and ask it anything from 'whats the weather' or set the temp of your house if you want. There is also the ability to turn the MIC off via the remote or a button on the top of the soundbar if you want privacy. All in all this soundbar has been a blast to have and has changed our home theater experience for the better. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.     Amazing sound bar!
    This sound bar works great. Easy to install. The Bluetooth is amazing. The sound is so clear and we love blasting movies with the surround sound. The Chromecast and Google Assistant are great assets and so easy to connect. I love the design of this sound bar because it looks very sleek. Watching 4K movies is now even more fun because of the sound quality. My kids love to snyc their phones and blast music and dance. I'm thinking of purchasing the additional speakers but I'm not sure if I even need it because the sound bar is just amazing on its own. I can't wait to buy another for my bedroom!     Awesome LG Sound!
    The LG SL8Y 3.1.2 Channel Sound Bar w/ Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos was easy to install, and the voice recognition had simple instructions. The soundbar itself is very sleek and a great addition to my LG 75" Nano TV. The soundbar is light enough to hang on the wall, but it also looks great setting up in front of the TV. I also have to mention the sound is spectacular, especially when watching movies. It has so many features and real exciting to use.     Great Home Entertainment
    Really loving my LG SL8YG 3.1.2 Channel Soundbar. The sound quality is amazing and set up was a breeze. I opened the package and was able to start listening to music on the soundbar within 10 minutes. The sound is crisp and clear and somehow it encompasses my whole family room. I also added 2 LG surround sound speakers to give it a 5.1 surround feel. The wireless surround speakers linked to the soundbar with ease. Google assistant is also a great addition. I can catch up on the news or listen to a song with ease. Watching movies has also been a wonderful experience. The subwoofer really packs a punch without overpowering the vocals like so many other systems do. Overall I definitely would recommend this soundbar to anyone looking for a medium sized room sound system. It puts out a high quality theater sound and it's sleek design is very stylish.     I just got my SL8Y sound bar from LG. I bought it to go along with my 86" TV. I've also been using it with Spotify and the smart features (from Google). I got to say I'm very impressed by the sound quality and the sheer power that this sound bar packs! I compared the sound quality of this sound bar to my speaker from another brand -one famous for their noise-cancelling headphones ;)- so the bar was set very high. The sound is absolutely at the same level. It is no doubt better than other sound bars I've tried. The bass sounds are full, and the equalizer presets (i.e. the one for "movies") highlight the vocals over the background music making it easy to follow the dialog,. In comparison with other sound bars that I've tried, the LG SL8Y is clearly superior. For a smaller room, the "surround effect" is more than enough. If you have a larger room, I recommend adding the two available wireless speakers to get the actual cinematic experience. Also, the fact that the sound bar doubles as a Google assistant is awesome. I removed my old Google mini and use this instead. I control my lights, the A/C, and my music just by speaking to the sound bar. How cool is that?     Great Sound
    I own several large LG products from large to small, I really can't say enough good things about LG. Naturally when it came time to upgrade my sound bar, it was a no brainier on which brand to go with. I'm loving my LG SL8YG sound bar, it has a lot of amazing features like bluetooth, built in Google Assistant and you can really hear the high quality sound and pairs great with LG 75" Nano Cell ultra-premium LED TV for the ultimate entertainment experience.
