The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential looks a bit dated, despite being the newest addition to Lenovo's lineup of gadgets that make use of Google Assistant. Designed for your nightstand, the Smart Clock Essential is a trimmed-down version of Lenovo's previous Smart Clock, which was itself a trimmed-down smart display.

LCD Shot After One Year
I really love this clock, but pretty disappointed that many of the bars that make up the numbers have burned out. This clock is little over a year old, and I've looked at it several times and misread the time because several of the numbers no longer render correctly. Poor quality in my book.

    a wonderful product at a great price.
    I love this clock. I received one for Christmas last year and i love it. it's small but it has great sound to listen to my music or anything else. I liked it so much I got one for my daughter for Christmas this year. the display is bright and you can turn it down to where it doesn't affect you while you're sleeping. it easily connects to your Wi-Fi. I've had no problem with this at all and now it's on sale for Black Friday it's a great price!

    This is my second Lenovo smart clock and I absolutely love it! I have one in the living room and bedroom to use as a clock. If you are in to all the add on's this is definitely a nice little machine but I have an issue with privacy by leaving the mic on so I do not make use all of them.

    Daily Unstable Connectivity
    I can't recommend this device. It disconnects from WiFi and must be restarted daily, if not multiple times per day. This is happening within the first week of ownership so who knows what kind of problems will plague this device in the future. This issue does not occur with Google Home devices - I will not be buying off-brand Google Assistant devices in the future.

    Super awesome little clock!
    This is great little smart device! We use it in the bathroom so we can stream music to it or ask the forecast while in the shower. It hears us give commands from the bedroom as well even with the door closed! The response times for “hey google” commands is much faster with this and the other (next step up) Lenovo smart clock than it is with the Google Nest Hub. The best Hub has been reassigned to the garage since it doesn't work as well as the Lenovo smart clocks! It was bothering my wife a great deal how slow it was and with the Lenovo clock there is no complaint! The sound from the speaker is decent as well. It is not a bass giant, or a face melter by any stretch, but it is quite excellent for tunes in the bathroom!

    Eh, its ok. Not worth $50.
    I like this alarm clock, sort of. It looks nice, very simple, minimalisic and modern. The time display is clear and easy to understand, showing the day of the week, time, temperature weather, and indication of any active alarm. However, in order to set an alarm, you have to tell Google, you cant use the buttons that it has. The screen itself is a very cheap plastic as well. The display brightness changes automatically with the environment brightness, but you cant adjust the brightness manually. If you like a dark room while sleeping, like I do, this alarm clock will light up your room. It has a pretty cool night light feature for those that like night lights. Overall, not for me.

    Great for a clock, poor audio quality
    Not worth it for the speaker alone, it does not have quality sound at all. I like the clock display and the nightlight. Automating the nightlight to brighten, dim, etc. is possible but requires VERY specific custom commands in the Google Home app. I do not use the built in alarm because you cannot change the sound it makes.

    Display issues after 1 year
    These clocks had some WiFi connectivity issues that were resolved by firmware updates in 2021, but it took a long time for it to be fixed. The night light is annoying and will sometimes turn on when you're trying to turn on smart lights/outlets in the room; I wish I could disable it or make it only respond if I ask it to turn the "nightlight" on/off instead of just the "light". Overall it's been a pretty good product for the price, but shortly after the 1yr warranty expired, I've started having display issues on both of my clocks. It's now impossible to read the temperature, and sometimes the time LEDs malfunction as well. I'm not the only one with this issue, and I'm pretty disappointed these couldn't even last 2 years before breaking. With an expired warranty I can't even get ahold of anyone at Lenovo to discuss it.
