Great machine. very durable. would be nice to have the arm, adjustable to different height including very short to use in tight spaces

only one use so far on a marble kitchen floor.
So far so good after one use on the marble floor. I used the cleaning operation and did not expect nor did i get a high shine. That being said I was not supposed get a high polish to as this was not for polishing. I was pleased with this operation and i have bought items to be able to dry clean carpet and also polish the marble. The orbiter worked well and i was impressed with the quality-to this date.

Overall the machine is very well built, and does not have any components that are likely to break. The orbiter has many attachments to choose from. I bought a blue brush to use for porcelain tile. I used a combination of bleach, tide, and water to clean. While the cleaning solution and brush did remove grime from my tile, it still required a lengthy amount of time to run the machine over the tile before noticing a difference. The machine weighs 25 lbs. and is easy to maneuver once turned on. The machine is most effective by using a side to side motion. A different brush, and cleaning solution might have been more effective. I will continue to use the machine do to it's versatility of use on carpet and concrete. However, I may purchase a steam cleaning mop for routine cleaning of the grout.Paul

I have gotten a larger one, but the Oreck Orbiter is a lot easier to get up multiple flights of stairs. Also great for the little one or two room jobs, or those that a larger orbital machine would just not fit. (Think small apartments with furniture.) Great on stairs as well. Definitely get a second pad driver, cut off the harpoons, and put velcro on so you can use thin cotton pads or microfiber pads without tearing them up.Whoooey

I bought several different brands offered at other stores that worked for a few cleanings, but after they sat unused for a few months they would not start again. 5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser12/28/2020How to use Oreck550 as a sander.Used on two jobs and first job paid for the cost of this machine. Wanted to share how to use the Oreck550 as a sander since I primarily bought this to refinish hardwood floors. Read many people were dissatisfied with it and couldnt get the sandpaper to attach to the machine. I will say the instructions manufacturer recommended to do sanding is inadequate and paper will slide off. To attach the sandpaper I first attached a buffer pad like the green scrub pad and then used a roll of duct tape to cut little strips and rolled the tape to itself to make little strips of two sided tape. I stuck the little hacked two sided sticky tape of duct tape to the back side of the sandpaper and then placed the oreck with green buffer paid on top of the sandpaper so the tape sticks to the buffer paid and does not slide off during use. With this approach I am able to sand down about 150-200 square feet of hardwood per sheet of 60 grit sandpaper. Also found best deal for sandpaper at HD online have 50 sheets for $30 with 10 sheets each of 60/80/120/160/180 grit so 10 sheets of 60 grit was way better than the $10 per sheet I was seeing most other sites were advertising. So far I like the machine but will see how long it holds up. Great deal at $260 from Walmart when seen anywhere from $400-$800 on Amazon. Thanks Walmart and good luck with your Oreck projects!Aaron

The small size allows it to get under and between objects that a larger machine cannot. We still use a larger machine for the majority of the scrubbing but this machine does a great job for what we needed.Waterboy52
