Easy to use
This paper shredder is easy to use the size is just perfect for what i need in our home office. The quality i would say its good for the price and the design and color is just average for a paper shredder not to bulky looking and not heavy easy to move around if i have to. I shredded mostly papers from work 1 up to 10 pcs and it works smooth and fine. This has a credit card slot i used it once also works fine just shred one at a time if you have many. I did not use this paper shredder everyday i only used it once a week and i always do the automatic position that will start shredding as soon as i insert the papers that i need to shred. This has a safety features that you need to make sure that the pull out bin is properly place or inserted or else the shredder will not start. And if you have small children at home much better you turn it off after you use it just for safety. All in all this works fine to me and as of now we loved using it and dont have any problem about it.

Shreds sensitive documents well, limited run time
This Pen and Gear 10 sheet micro-cut shredder is perfect for destroying sensitive documents and is designed for “medium use”. The shredder was able to handle 10 sheets of regular paper, 8 sheets of cardstock, and multiple envelopes at once with ease. The slide power button has the same standard options of most shredders: off, automatic, forward, and reverse. The indicator panel lights up for power, overload, overheat, and door open. The paper is inserted at less than a 90-degree angle. My favorite part of this shredder is the removable waste basket so no lifting of the heavy shredder head is required. There is a clear window in the front of the basket so you can easily see the level of waste in the 4-gallon basket. There are indents in the sides for lifting if necessary and the shredder has wheels so you can roll it around to where you need it. However, I often need to move my shredder from room to room across thresholds so a handle on top would have been preferable for me. I have 2 concerns about this shredder. First, the base is made of very rigid thin plastic so it will crack or break very easily if you run it into something or it is accidentally hit, kicked, or dropped. Second, the continuous run time is 4 minutes. The instructions say to shred for 4 minutes and then let it rest for 40 minutes. There have been times when I needed to shred documents for 30 continuous minutes or longer so the four-minute time limit would have caused a disruption in my schedule. Overall, the micro-cut shredder works fine, shreds the number of pages at once that it claims, and has a removable basket that is easy to empty. Cons, the base is made with thin rigid plastic that will easily crack or break, no handle for lifting, and it has limited continuous run time with a long resting period required afterwards.

    Nice small shredder
Small footprint. It's a bit slow and you can only do maximum of 8 sheets - better 3-5 at a time, but fairly quiet. I like the microcut. My old shredder required that you remove the very heavy top to empty the bin- this is an easy pull out drawer. It meets my needs for a small home office where I need to shred 40-50 pages over the course of a week.

Pen + Gear 10 Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder, 4-Gallon Collection Bin, Black I've been using this new Cut-shredder paper for a couple of weeks and so far is the best I ever had. Design: is modern and clean, extremely easy to use. It has the capability of cutting up to 10 sheets and plastic cards. Collector Bin: One of the best features, is super wide and ease to empty. Normally you must take out the heavy head in order to empty the collector bin, but this one opens to the front like a draw making it easy and avoid the mess. Micro-cut: it cuts the paper vary small, that make the bin collector to last longer before it is full. Wheels: 4 wheel that makes it super easy to move. Variable speed: it has an internal automatic system that speed up the cutter for auto cleaning every time you cut a sheet. I'll recommend this product for any office or home.

    Overall It's a Winner!
This Pen + Gear 10-Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder offers several premium features, and I give it high marks. It's advertised on the packaging as a medium-use shredder, so to find high-end features included is a plus. It comes with removable casters – a bonus, especially if you have several work areas in your office, since the shredding mechanism is fairly heavy. Another feature I really like is the pull-out basket, the advantage being you can pull the basket out without removing the top shredding unit. That's a really great feature because not only are those top parts very heavy, it's where the blades are housed – and the less interaction I have with them, the safer I feel. Of course, always turn the power off and unplug when emptying the shredder basket. To accomplish the pull-out, the basket is actually divided into two pieces – a little confusing at first, but in just a few minutes I had it up and running. On my first try, the shredding mechanism was not property seated, so of course it didn't run (safety feature), but just a little push down and it was good to go. Also there is a very nice see-through window which lets you see when the basket is almost full. This shredder features a 10-sheet capacity and I will admit to being a bit skeptical, since from past experience, shredders never quite live up to the advertised capacity. I started out feeding it just five sheets and then went to 10 – and it handled 10 sheets effortlessly and quietly, again and again. The width of the feed is 9 1/2″, wider than other shredders I have owned. Another safety feature I liked was the hooded paper feed, so it is impossible to get near those blades. The basket capacity is excellent – very deep, but not too tall. Another win for Pen + Gear! Two other things worth mentioning – one fairly minor, the other may be of greater concern, depending on your security requirements. I think the manual could have been more complete. There was no schematic, so no way to evaluate whether there were missing parts. Also, there are no assembly instructions. Although assembly is simple, the two-part basket might be initially confusing for someone new to this feature, and the only reference to it is on the box. The manual is very repetitive. It explains the reverse feature (REV) on page 2, 3 and 4 – overkill. It would be better to show a schematic, give assembly directions and list the features. But that's pretty minor and easily overcome, which brings me to the only other feature that could be improved – and that is the size of the micro-cut shreds. Depending on your need for secure shredding, this may or may not be important. I own another shredder from a different manufacturer which I chose specifically because the micro-cut shreds were the smallest I could find and they curl. The curling prevents clumping when multiple sheets are fed through. The shreds from the Pen + Gear are twice as big as my other shredder, and they clump if you've fed through multiple sheets. The micro-shred is a great feature over any cross-cut shredder, but size of the cuts could be smaller. I've attached a picture that compares shreds from the Pen + Gear and my other shredder. The Pen + Gear shreds are on the left. If you zoom in, you will see the clumps. In the center of the picture is one shred from the Pen + Gear (left center) and one shred from my other shredder (right center). So, overall great features – casters, pull-out basket, large capacity basket and excellent sheet capacity. A possible negative – micro-cuts could be smaller.

    Wonderful portable shredder!
We've had a large shredder that's more than 5 years old. It recently stopped working. This item was available for review at the perfect time. Opening the box, there's very minimal assembly needed. One just need to attach the 4 wheels on the bottom and attach the basket to the top. It was assembled in less than 5 minutes. This shredder is very light, make it very portable. But the best feature of this shredder is the micro-shredding that shreds the papers to much smaller pieces than the standard cross shred. I took a picture of this so you can see. I would definitely recommend this to a friend or family.

    Shreds Paper Into Tiny Pieces
I like the Pen + Gear 10 Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder, 4-Gallon Collection Bin. Is it okay to say I had fun shredding stuff? Life really is about the simple things. Positive thoughts: It's light, and the wheels make it easy to move around. The top panel is user-friendly. I did my best to jam in a lot of paper to see what it would do, and in addition to stopping, the Overload light came on. I didn't try to Overheat it. I played with the forward and reverse features, and they worked well. The pull-out basket is fantastic! It comes out so easily and putting it back in is just as easy. I detest taking things in and out because you have to make sure you line everything up correctly or it jams, not the case with the Pen + Gear shredder. It was a breeze! You know when you watch television, and someone has the job of putting back together a shredded piece of paper? It would take years to put back a piece of paper after running it through this shredder. If it was even possible. The pieces were so tiny. A couple downsides (not big deals): Since the door does come out easily, if you tip the shredder forward, the door will fall out. So, just don't tip it. The handle where you can hold onto it in the back is more of an indent. I used it as a guide, instead of a handle. Overall, two thumbs up!

Lots of features in a small package!
This is a compact, 10-sheet capacity micro-cut paper and credit card shredder, with a plastic bin and housing around the head. It operates by means of a slide switch near the top of the shredder. There are also Overheat, Overload, Power and Door Open indicators above the slide switch. It comes with four (4) small casters for ease in moving. The casters are supposed to be pressed and snapped into the receptacles, but I found that they needed a few taps with a small hammer in order to slide into place. Pros: (1) Assembly was easy, about 5 minutes. (2) As a micro shredder, it shreds paper into tiny strips about two or three times the size of a grain of rice. This ensures privacy, as the strips are nearly unreadable and would be impossible to reconstruct. (3) It has a large (4-gallon capacity) collection bin. (4) Considering the size of the output, it works quickly and fairly quietly. (5) There is sufficient space inside the collection bin to insert a plastic grocery bag for ease of emptying and cleanup. (6) I like the handgrip and two slots (on the front of the collection bin and each side of the shredder) as they make it easy to lift the shredder and remove the collection bin for emptying. Cons: (1) The manufacturer warns that the unit not be used with an extension cord, but always plug it directly into a wall outlet. My small older home has very few wall outlets, and so I have no alternative but to use power strips because the outlets are usually behind cabinets, furniture, etc. For this reason, a longer cord, or some shutoff mechanism allowing the use of power strips, would have been most helpful. (2) The ”Operation Manual” is lacking in helpful tips and tricks; for example, the collection bin does not easily snap into place and it is necessary to hit it a bit harder than just pressfitting it into place. (3) Along these lines, perhaps two or three additional sets of tabs and slots could have been added to secure the head to the cabinet and collection bin, and the collection bin to the cabinet (see photo). (4) A small plastic clip on the side of the shredder head or cabinet to hold the cord in place while moving the unit would have been helpful. (5) Manufacturer recommends up to 4 minutes continuous run time and 40 minutes cooldown time. Cooldown time seems somewhat excessive, but since the unit is brand new, I have not used it enough to need a cooldown time. How it performs over time remains to be seen. Regardless of the “Cons” that I noted on the shredder, I think it is a well-performing unit, meant for home use (but not sufficiently heavy-duty for commercial use). Recommended.

    Works well.
I have had a smaller version of a Pen+Gear shredder for years. This one is much quieter and performs well. It shredded 10 sheets of paper easily. It has a nice sized window on the bin so you can see when it's full. The bin is easy to pull out and empty. I like the fact that this model has wheels on it since I keep it under my desk. It's easy to use and looks good too. I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program in exchange for my honest review.

    Pretty decent shredder
The first thing I noticed about this shredder is very quiet. No loud grinding noises. I like that it has wheels on it so I can move it from room to room if I need to. I also like the fact that you don't have to remove staples from papers to run them through like most paper shredders. The paper bin pulls out so you don't have to take the thing apart to empty it.is shreds the paper into tiny little chips so they're unreadable. It also will shred credit cards. Overall I think this is a pretty decent paper shredder and I would recommend it for anybody who needs one that would be cost effective.
