do your research and buy it
I have this unit on my living room. But,before I actually got it, i did my research not only online but going to Walmart a few times and asking them of this product, and as it shows 90% of the people are extremely happy and content have such great unit produce by RCA. So I purchased one, and been a happy customer as well. It is fairly easy to connect to different devices, such as dvd; blueray; cd desk; stereo system; tvs ; games consoles and other devices. Below a summary of what are the connections are, and what are the main parts that includes with this unit: 2x Analog Inputs (red-white) 2x digital optical input 1x digital coaxial input 1x LINE-IN input 5x speakers (2x fronts/2x rear/1x center) 1x subwoofer 1x Am antenna (loop) 1x FM pigtail antenna 1x remote control The system has Dolby -pro logic II, for excellent sound quality, and has the choice to switch in between different EQ sound modes, such as POP-JAZZ-ROCK-etc.(only in stereo mode) While in surround sound mode, it has a few preset sound such as DOLBY PL II, MUSIC, HALL, etc. One of the few receivers that has a RADIO tuner for AM and FM, and you could also preset and save your favorite FM/AM stations. Has an advance LEVEL system, in which you could adjust each speakers separately to your liking. One great feature includes with this system is the SLEEP mode. You could adjust how long you want the system to power off after a certain amount of time its been used. The Remote control is your standard remote for Receivers. It has the basic power button, source button, sound adjustment, and volume button. Yet it includes many other features and functions buttons that is an essential necessity for the system as most modern receivers remotes does not. Its long and the lettering on the remote is easy to see, and surprisingly light. After setting it and connecting with your devices, you will feel and sense the great quality of sound from unit, in which so dynamic. This is my experience with this system, and I do recommended to those are looking for one.

    I have owned this item for years, 4-5 maybe? And I have yet to be disappointed by it really. Did not use it to its full potential for a long time due to the limitations of apartment living, but after I bought a house I set it up and it works great for what it cost. Bass is strong. Easy to set up and use unless you're a moron. To be fair I did have a few issues with it. 1. There is an internal 40mm cooling fan that can sometimes make a great deal of noise. 2. The center channel speaker is weak so it makes dialogue difficult to hear. Used to turn my tv volume up to compensate but had to balance it just right to avoid echo. I disconnected the cooling fan temporarily to stop the noise but the trade-off is it gets hot enough that I'd be hesitant to try watching two movies back to back. Bought a new center channel speaker and it made a HUGE difference. Anyway if you temper your expectations going in this is an awesome starter system for the price, and is a good jumping off point for eventually building it up on a budget. Would absolutely recommend it, even now.

    How to quiet the fan
    I read several of the other reviews and the fan noise is the biggest problem for this system. I opened the case - 7 screws - and removed the fan - 2 screws. I noticed that the fan ran quietly wen it was just held in my hand, but as soon as I put it up against the mount area it got very noisy. My solution was to mount the fan about 1/8" in front of its old location using commercial strips of Velcro to the bottom of the fan. I used the Velcro because I did not want to drill into the lower circuit board. The Velcro cushioned the noise and it has run nicely ever since. Hope this helps.

    Fan is too loud
    I've owned this product for about 8 months. The sound is decent for the money. I did expect a little more sound with a 1000 watts so that was disappointing. The stupid fan is my main problem. It's so loud. Maybe that's were all the 1000 watts are at. If you listen at a low volume the fan is all you hear. So you gotta turn it up to block out the fan. Here in the last month after its been off for awhile, when starting it up the fan has got even louder. It sounds horrible. I have to keep turning it on and off and it will finally go back to the regular annoying sound. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Pay more money and buy a better one. RCA use to have good quality products but I don't know what happen with this one. After reading other reviews I'm not the only one with a fan problem. It will be the last RCA product I'll ever buy again.

    Just Read the Instructions!
    I enjoy this and use it mostly for music with my iPod and iPhone. In order to get the maximum sound quality from it however you must program the Surround; Level; Distance; Treble; Bass. Once you do that it comes alive and sounds great. Note: If your power goes out when it comes back on you will have to set everything over again.

    Good theater for the price
    This was a steal at only $40!! But I would have never played full price. The settings can't be saved. You have to set everything back up to your preferred settings everytime you turn it on. Other than that it sounds great!!
