A Brilliant Joy-Con Focused Mario Party
Emphasis on joy-con focused. Look at the cover! You will need a single joy-con for every player and be prepared to use it because the wrist strap is recommended and for myriad good reasons. You are encouraged to move a decent bit and thriving in the variety of game modes and mini games is going to stimulate and demand mastering a bunch of the potential the little joy-con offers. If you want technical button input mini games Super Mario Party doesn't offer much. Consider the similarly named Mario Party Superstars which supports all controller types and offers zero motion mini games to my recollection. Something else to consider is that since joy-cons are easier to travel with than fuller controllers. You can easily equip four players if you game while traveling and if you're getting the digital version (2.8GB v1.1.0) it may always be on your Switch for easy access. This game wholeheartedly satisfies utilizing a single joy-con per player in a Mario Party game verse. Several game modes to master, online gameplay has been smooth and un-irritating, tons and tons of motion action in a surprising evolution to Mario Party that isn't too far detached from its roots.

Far superior to Mario Party Superstars
Great addition to the MP franchise. Played this game and Superstars, but by far this game is SOOOO much better. Yes, I do think it could stand to have more board and character options, but would still recommend buying. Between Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars, save yourself a bit of money and get this one over Superstars!

One of the biggest shocks of 2018
Recent Mario Party games were getting more underrated before this game came out, I was a bit scared that this was going to follow that trend, and with it being called SUPER Mario Party, there really were some shoes to fill. And, in my opinion, I think this game did a phenomenal job with doing that, as it just might be one of the funnest and most intriguing games on the Switch so far. The presentation, the vast amount of fun mini-games, the immersive way to go to each mode, the Mario Party mode, the river canoe mode, the roster, and multiplayer are all top notch and fantastic. and with Bowser being PLAYABLE, and just joining the fun without acutally making it hard on us. This is definitely a great package that has more than enough to live up to it's name, as it is one super fun time all around. However, despite how much fun this game is, i's still functional and fun, but it's kind of lame to have so little to do online. The other thing I found annoying is how this game does not let you play in any other mode except for with just one joycon. I fully understand why this is, so that more people can join in, as well as really emphasize the HD rumble, which, to this games credit, does work very well. But, it can be very annoying when you want to play this on the go only to have to set it on a table or something since the handheld mode won't work. Neither will the Pro Controller. Again, I do appreciate the emersion and better accessibility, but having an option to at least toggle handheld or Pro Controller mode would have been really nice. Thankfully, the excellent HD rumble in the joycon makes it much more worthwhile than it would be if it were a controller without the HD rumble. Besides that, it's really hard not to love this game for the amount of great times it brings, which is why I recommend this game to anyone who are fans of the Mario Party series, and/or anyone with a Switch, because even someone like me who has never touched a game in the series up until now can say with confidence that this game, despite it's flaws, is loaded with great times all around.
