Fantastic
Our family loves this TV. The picture is fantastic, so bright we have it set on the lowest setting and it's still fine even though it's in a bright room. The non-reflective screen is a big plus over other TVs we have. The picture settings are numerous and it took a little time to wade through them all but we have it tweaked just right for us. The biggest plus is it's ROKU os built in. It is so easy and convenient to have a ROKU TV. I love ROKU streaming devices but having a real ROKU TV is just the bomb. I'm not buying anything else again.

Maybe ok TV but horrible support from seller...
I bought this as a gift so it sat for a few weeks in the box but when we opened it this TV came straight out of the box with two large round circles on the screen. Like bubbles. It was delayed in being delivered due to snow/ice, but the seller claims it was delivered before it actually was and will do nothing for us. (After waiting 3 days to answer me, putting us 1 day outside the 30-day return policy...) We're forced to keep a TV that day 1 is defective. I will also say that the picture becomes VERY blurry during movement/action scenes. It's very distracting and can make you a bit dizzy. $1,000 down the drain for a TV that will sit in the basement while I buy a new one. Horrible customer service, might be an ok TV if it wasn't defective. DO NOT waste your money!

    Not Good.
Terrible TV. After a year it shuts off by itself sometimes. The corner LEDs are bright white and very noticeable. I've try all the “custom” settings, Still no good. I'll never try to save a few bucks and buy the brand again.

LED backlight/panel defect negates good features.
The TCL 65R635 color and brightness lived up to the professional reviews I read before making the purchase. I'd go so far as to state that many of the colors are over-saturated but it could just be because I'd never seen the same content on a display with such a wide color gamut. As one reviewer stated, you may have to use one of the limited brightness settings to decrease the intensity from the defaulted maximum (only good for really bright rooms). Unfortunately my unit had what I guess is a backlight flaw that I could not live with (possibly a panel defect I suppose) . In brighter and uniform scenes my unit had 4, 1/4" diameter dark splotches spaced about 7" apart, horizontally across the bottom of the screen. Attached picture is a Roku theme page which most certainly should not have the 4 visible dark spots below the text and above the ground/horizon boundary. Brighter and uniform scenes made the dots more pronounced. The splotches were not visible with all colors and just a little randomness to the scene made them difficult to detect. Next issue is the image up-scaler. With low res or low frame rate youtube content, the scaler engine appears to drop in-motion scene content completely. Example was some cartoon characters from an old PBS series, my old/cheap blue ray box up-scales them to HD with no issues. The 65R635 scaler caused the character's moving feet to completely disappear for visible moments/frames at a time, only able to produce outlines and shadows of the dynamic content until it reached a semi-stationary point again or hit a key frame in the compressed video. Higher/res source content seemed to be fine. Even other live-action youtube content which was fairly pixelated to begin with scaled acceptably. Also in-line with several professional reviews, the sound is just so-so. After this TV replaced a 55" main brand name TV with well above average sound, the in-TV sound of the 65R635 was less than exciting. Not terrible but definitely a down-grade from my last TV (which was returned after developing a warranty defect of it's own). Plan on getting a middle of the road sound bar if you want to use this TV without a more advanced sound system. Lastly, I will say that, yes I like the Roku interface much better than my brand-name TV's proprietary interface which was over-burdened with trying to scavenge the internet for available streaming content. The Roku has a little lag when loading different app interfaces but once loaded, Roku is so much quicker to respond than others I have used on mid-range 4k TV's. I also give the Roku remote high marks for not clustering buttons around the navigation arrows and for placing them under where your thumb comfortably rests when holding the remote in a well balanced position in a hand. Too many remotes cram in more buttons which get unintentionally clicked on a frequent basis and place the navigation buttons too low on the remote's keypad.

    do not buy
Extremely disappointed with this TV. Will be returning. Everything I read raved about how great this TV was, but it's picture quality is blurry. YouTube TV is particularly bad and streams better when plugging in a firestick. I'm so disappointed. My LG TV from 10 years ago had better picture quality than this TV.

    VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
I bought this TV on November 29th. Walmart used Pilot shipping company to ship my TV which according them I was suppose to recieve on Dec 10th. TV didn't arrive until Dec 23rd and had a big hole in the center of it when it arrived. I called walmart customer service center for a replacement TV and they refused to send me one. This will be my last time I shopped online with walmart. Very bad experience.

Impressive over the TCL class 4 models, love this!
Excellent picture and game mode adjustments. Crisp colors, good saturation, even lightning throughout. I had a 5-year old Vizio before this with backlighting issues (1080p). Works really nicely with a Roku sound bar -- you just need one remote to operate both. I suspect many of the bad reviews have to do with damage during shipping, and since this TV is heavy, that is expected with sloppy freight service. I could not get this TV from Walmart directly and had to order to ship, which is fine since it never would have fit in my car anyway. Nice apps built in. Also, the remote (as for TCL Roku TVs) work on wifi, so if your wifi goes out, your remote will not work. Download an IR remote app to your phone just in case. I've had one issue of rebooting a TCL Roku TV a few years ago while internet was out, and didn't have a IR remote, had to wait for internet service. Compared to the class 4 TCL Roku TV we have ($300 now?) this picture is so much more impressive!

    A happy camper
Bought after researching what is supposedly the best QLED at this size and price. And I can see why. Major brand LEDS and QLEDs incl Samsung Sony, LG etc simply don't compare. The new OLEDs do get to this picture quality but are substantially more $. Picture is outstanding of course and love the ROKU OS and the remote phone app. Walmart was actually the only one that could ship me this model (635) and everything arrived in less than a week undamaged . This is a few hundred more than the budget TVs but has a picture and features that easily make it worth the $$$. You won't be sorry

    Impressive TV, but native 120Hz.
The TCL R635 is an impressive TV, but not Native 120Hz. Every influencer, tech website, and retail leads you to believe it is a Native 120Hz TV, but that is not quite true. 120Hz is there upscaling technology like many of the other companies that say that they are a higher frame rate when it is their technology that used to upscale 60fps to make the picture look smoother. When I bought the TV, from all the reviews from tech websites, I was sure it was native 120Hz. Then when I read the manual (shown in my pictures) that it is a 60fps TV. TCL lists it as a 60Hz TV only in their FAQ section if you do a search for 120Hz (also in my pictures). That being said. Here is my quick first impressions. The TV is great. Well designed and picture is very good. The TV is super bright. So bright, I keep it in the darker modes. Settings are simple and easy to change. Colors seem very accurate. As always, the picture quality really is dependent on the video quality that is being inputted. Testing it on any Blu-ray disc and you will likely be impressed with the picture. Many tech review sites talked about a "blooming" problem, however, I don't see it as a issue unless watching it in a dark room. But even then, it would only show up in some rare scenes. The cameras they use to film the blooming seem to accentuate the blooming much more than in real life watching. The design of the TV is sharp. It looks very sleek with stainless steel accents and tiny bezel. Not the thinnest TV, but it doesn't really matter much if it is only an inch or two wider. Roku interface it very good. So simple and intuitive. Easy to find settings you want. For me, it seems to have all the picture and sound settings I would want. Plenty of apps. Easy to search for them and find. Easy to install or uninstall. The speakers were the big surprise to me. They sound great to me. They are quite loud, clear, and sounds good. In many ways it sounds better than my soundbar. I haven't turned it up passed 30 because that is quite loud already. Several different settings (ex Music, High Treble, Natural, High Bass, Clear Voice, etc.) to change the sound. Many tech review websites knocked the speakers, but may be trying to push soundbars. Consumers should listen to them to decide whether to upgrade to a soundbar. The remote is actually very good. At first I thought it was a really cheap remote and TCL was trying to cut costs. However, I am liking the simplicity and small ergonomics of the remote. Everything you would need/want and nothing you don't really use. Big complicated remotes with a ton of buttons can be annoying. That is my quick first impressions. If you really want a 120Hz panel, then I would say pass on this one. Otherwise, majority of people will be quite pleased with this TV.

    Great option for any budget
This is a very high quality Tv for not much money comparatively. I upgraded from a Hisense Roku 60 inch tv that had weird dark zones in it after only having it for a year or two and I am way impressed with this TV.
