Troy bilt a well built machine for a great price.
Affordable, reliable, and a machine that can get the job done without breaking the bank.

Pony 42 - NO
I bought this mower in Aug. of this year. It was greatly needed and I am on a tight budget so it seems to be a good choice. It was not. It arrived with parts missing to mount the seat. It has a gas tank that looks like a 1 gallon milk jug attached to the mower by a plastic ziptie. It vibrates hard while mowing and cuts uneven. The battery is too weak to start the mower and will not hold a strong enough charge to start mower without a boost or jump. Replaced the battery and it will now start. Troy Bilt mower
I've had three Troy Bilt riders over the years. They are a very solid rider and you don't go broke buying it!

    Disappointed
I have had riding mower for just under 2 years. The Mower ran Great last year, and two weeks ago, but this past weekend it ran out of gas, now it runs awful. We have done all the suggestions in the "engine running erratically" problem section. We've replaced the gas in the tank, replaced fuel filter. Tried even letting it run with the gas cap loosened, but still acts like it is flooding out. Looses power. I am really disappointed in how this mower has performed

    will not start!!
Have had it for just over a year and it has quit on me for the second time. This time it will not do anything. If I go from battery to starter it will turn over.Somewhere in electrical not sure where. My major problem is I cant get Troy bilt on the phone to help fix this problem. THEY dont seem to want to stand behind their product. My advice buy anything else. My mower looks as good as the day I bought it BUT IT WILL NOT RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need it to cut grass not yard art.Troy-bilt fix my mower that is still under warranty and ill change this if its right. Thats my word as A Marine.

    11 Years and going great!
Had mine for 12 years now and it's going great. I use it a bunch on some rough areas. Have had to change the steering link (Don't run into trees and you won't have this problem!) but nothing else but yearly oil, sparkplug, and air filter changes. The tires are even going great with the original air. I hope I can get another if this one ever dies.

Mostly good, but with a few pain points
I bought mine late in the summer of 2017, and everything worked great for the remainder of that summer and all of the next, but last year, it became increasingly difficult to get it to go into the forward gear position. The lever moves freely where it attaches to the transaxle, but the long shaft of the hand lever flexes excessively, and the opening in the body panel simply isn't large enough to move the lever so that it engages the forward gear. It's as if they designed this specific part to only be operated as gingerly as possible, all the while knowing it would be in an environment where it would be manhandled. When it first started happening, I simply cut the opening in the fender to allow greater range of movement for the lever. Now, even that modification is proving to lose effectiveness, so I have two choices: 1. replace the lever, and see the same thing happen again in a year or two, or 2. reinforce the existing lever to reduce the flex, allowing it to reliably engage the forward gear. All of this could have been avoided if the manufacturer had simply spent a few cents more on the part, so that it stands up to years of normal use.
