Great Viewing and More Reasons to Cut the Cord
Quick disclosure: We received this TV for review, but that doesn't impact the thoughts I've shared here. We own several VIZIO televisions and have for years. The picture is always amazing compared to other brands available at the same time and the system setup a snap. Customizing the brightness and other visual specs is extremely intuitive. The only hiccup we had with this unit is that the base was wider than the stand we had to put it on. So if you aren't planning to wall mount your VIZIO then make sure you get the right sized stand. While everything visually has been great, the standout features have less to do with pixels or dimensions and more to do with integration. VIZIO continues to push the envelope on streaming and entertainment options by having apps built into the system. I cannot even come close to listing all the apps and features, but here's a sampling: Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney+, YouTube, Vudu, Tubi, Filmrise, Vevo, Fandango, Pandora, IHeartRadio, Peacock, Acorn, CBS All Access and more. There is even an app of free shows powered by VIZIO/Pluto TV. How about Facebook Watch? Yup. That's even there. Karaoke of interest to you? App for that also! There's a whole list of apps and services I've never even heard of like Plex, Sanctuary, Dark Matter, FlixFling, Haystack News, Newsy and Donut the New Car Culture. If you're one of those people who struggles with trying to figure out which buttons to hit to navigate into the various apps, I'll set your mind at ease there also. The remote "home" button takes you to the screen that shows "App row" (which is customizable, by the way) and various shortcuts. But the app ALSO has buttons specifically labeled as Netflix, Prime Video, Vudu, Xumo, Hulu, Redbox and Watch Free (that's the VIZIO one). The whole system is powered by more than just the remote with options to integrate with devices such as Google, Alexa and Chromecast. I've been too busy enjoying all the other options as I recognize this TV may be what finally helps me realize we can cut the cord and not feel like we're missing out. As you evaluate what type of TV you want to add to your home, make sure you consider ease of use and streaming options while also how good the picture is! Great features!
I replaced a 65in Vizio with this new 70in model and now it really feels like I'm at my own theater which is great due to COVID. Here are the feature I enjoy: 1. This new model has really good sound quality. I like the virtual surround sound feature. I think this feature is important for people who don't already have an AV receive and/or a 5 point speaker system. 2. I like the improved remote control compared to my 2018 Vizio. This one has dedicated buttons for my favorite apps: Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. This makes it easier to just press the button to go to that app instead of navigating through the Smartcast menu. 3. I LOVE the built-in smart features. I used to have a Roku, a Google Chromecast and have even tried an Nvidia Shield and other Android TV boxes. The apps included in Smartcast mean I don't need an additional device because everything is built-in. I use Smartcast every day to watch YouTube videos while I walk on my treadmill 2x a day. It makes working out a lot more fun! 4. I also like that the apps and software that power the Vizio are always being updated. That's important to me to have the latest fixes and new features available. I trust Vizio more than other brands to keep my equipment up to date. 5. Most importantly, I enjoy the crisp picture and vibrant colors. It's also great that I can customize all the settings to make the picture look exactly the way I want it to look if I don't want to use the default settings. I've yet to find anything I don't like about this new TV. This is my 3rd Vizio and I am always quick to recommend this brand to friends and family who are shopping for a new TV. Quick Setup, Great Quality
I was able to set up this monitor fairly quick. Having the standup box made it less scary for such a big monitor. Ports are easily accessible, but wished the power cord was a little longer. Channels that utilize Dolby Vision - like Disney+ - were amazing to watch. Connecting via Watch Now, Roku, Apple TV and more are a breeze, and I don't see any quality difference. While the sound was good, this works a lot better with a soundbar using ARC or Optical audio. You can get a true Dolby Atmos sound with a good bar. The remote was similar to the last, and the new button placement will be a small learning curve. Pairing Alexa, apps, and more was very easy. And with Watch Now being more robust, I could see myself using that as the main remote interface. I am also glad VIZIO continues to add an Ethernet jack. I see less video ramp-ups when it's cabled. The stand is fairly sturdy. I tried a couple tip and shake tests, and the monitor felt solid enough to survive. Viewing angle is amazing on this monitor. I could see the action on the screen from 89 degrees. In all, a powerful monitor for viewing your favorite shows. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Beautiful colors, dynamic range,and features
The V705x-H1 is my third TV with HDR, and the first that doesn't suffer from notable zones of backlighting, I'm guessing with due to the full backlighting array they list. Dark darks, bright brights, and no evidence of bleeding light, which makes gaming (especially menus where there're hard corners,) a bit better. On HDR this is the first TV I've owned where I felt it does HDR as advertised. I had a few moments of disbelief when playing games and ended up filming as it did not seem to be only a 60hz refresh rate. I'm pretty sure in the days leading up to Black Friday I've seen it listed as “120hz effective refresh rate.” This led me to researching effective vs actual, and I'm reading from this they're doing some wizardry to make it appear a higher refresh than it is. Overall, it looks great, you can game solidly on it, but if you're a twitch sniper this TV probably isn't quite your thing. As an older FPS gamer on PC/Xbox, this refresh rate does not affect me adversely. Games are also beautiful, until you attempt to photograph them with a cell phone and it just looks meh. Installation was done with me and my wife, who's got a frozen shoulder and still managed to heft up half the weight of the thing. I think in total it's about 50 pounds and we managed to get it up on the mount I had with no issues. While I think I could have potentially done it alone, meh, two people can easily do it. After initially powering up you've got a fairly long firmware update to sit through. I started it wired on a gigabit connection and it was a long few minutes wondering if it was coming back up. It did, no complaints there, but it did appear to be dead for a while. Just plan to wait for a bit. The OS is your standard Vizio SmartCast, and if you're familiar with that the only difference is it appears to be significantly faster than on older models after a few minutes of being installed. It was slow for about a minute after the initial update, but now it's great. I have a feeling it was doing work in the background while I was attempting to get right into playing with the new TV. I proceeded to set up Plex, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and I swear I'm forgetting something, and got to watching. I did some comparison testing and went to the other couple of TVs and watched the same things again, and also on my phone to see what all differences I could discern. The answer to most streaming was not a whole lot other than sheer size, although I did determine I liked the HDR significantly more on this than on my older VIZIO which I believe had 30 or so lighting zones. I've spent a lot of time watching this over the past few days, and have determined that the only reality breaker that presents itself for an OCD observer is that the top of the screen appears ever so slightly a different shade when we're looking at non-moving gray. Totally unnoticeable on other colors or during movement, but the backlighting or edge lighting or something doesn't look perfect at the top when 1) gray, 2) viewed from lower angle. This had me standing on a couch watching 4K videos in an attempt to see whether the effect was visible dead on, which I think I determined it maybe is but you need more OCD than I have to notice it. So tilt the screen if you see it. You will want a sound system of some sort. The speakers are good, but not great. I don't claim to be an audiophile, but once you get a decent sound system you can't go back. If you haven't watched over the air broadcasts due to cable or streaming, I suggest you check out your local over the air stations with an antenna (you'll need to get an antenna.) The video quality will make you wonder why you're paying cable fees to watch a pixelated mess. Also useful for when your cable goes out. Overall, it's a good solid TV. There are plenty of videos on why it's a great gaming TV due to the processor, I'll let you check those out for yourself. It's crisp, sharp, dark and beautiful, and I have no complaints. Happily Surprised by this Smart TV and 4K Quality
So it was time to upgrade our bedroom TV and my wife and I chose the VIZIO V-Series® 58" Class 4K HDR Smart TV | V585x-H1. It was relatively inexpensive and met our requirements. We wanted 4K as well as some smart capabilities our friends had mentioned. For the setup - we have a soundbar (also from Visio) and it was seamless to plug in the optical cable - it automatically worked. The coolest thing that I didn't even know was possible is I can stream from my Apple devices with this TV. It also has Apple TV which we didn't have on our old TV. I'm also impressed by the picture quality. This TV is what we watch at night. It was surprising how much better everything looked. I didn't expect such a radical improvement in picture quality and such an improvement to our night time movie time. Overall I rate this TV 5 stars - you get way more than expected from the very reasonable price. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Outstanding Product
For the 1st time I received my TV via delivery, I was quite impressed to see how the packaging stood up to thru the shipping process. Unboxing was just as exciting as turning it on for the 1st time, the lift bag with handles provided a great assist. I can honestly say I am considering canceling my DirecTV service. I'm so serious if you're using a Fire Stick throw it away and just go buy this TV. I have more apps and programs than I know what to do with. I was up all night creating new (FREE) accounts for all the apps that are already programmed. The picture is amazing, it so clear. Look guys I could go on and on about these features but I think it's time for you to get you one. Vizio has the best prices and their products last. I have been a loyal Vizio customer for as long as I can remember. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Excellent picture quality
So I've had this TV for a few days now, straight out of the box I was in love. This is my second Vizio smart TV so I was expecting the setup to take at least 30mins like the last one did. Nope setup was complete within 5mins. The picture quality is great as well as the sound quality. The remote is my favorite part I love that they added app buttons to it. If you are in the market for a new smart TV Vizio is the way to go! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    The Cord Cutter!
This TV has been my stepping stone in to the world of cord cutting. I've owned multiple Vizio TVs and the setup gets easier every time. I got it out of the box and plugged in a digital HD antenna, so I could get my local channels. The discovery process was smooth and found all the local channels I was expecting. I also easily got it connected to my Wi-Fi network. I used the built in apps to connect to all (5) of my streaming services. I'm impressed with the speed with which I can change between streaming apps - it seems a lot faster than doing the same thing through my cable box on the other TV. The picture is also fantastic. I was worried about it since the room has lots of windows, but even with tons of natural light the picture is bright and clear. The speakers are solid performers, too. The remote is simple and easy to use. The buttons for quick access to some of the streaming services is handy. Being able to use my smart home assistant to do things like mute the TV is a nice bonus. Overall a great TV! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Outstanding value. Packed with premium features!
Three years ago, I was introduced to VIZIO's SmartCast M-Series HDTVs. At that time 4K (2160p) displays were the mainstream standard, with HDR (High Dynamic Range) being the new must-have feature for Ultra-HD home theater displays. Since then, 4K HDR Smart TV's with improved Stream/Casting features have become the market standard. For the 2021 model year, VIZIO has adapted by dividing their HDTV product lines between value-driven and premium-feature consumers. For under $300 you get a 58-inch 4K UHD display loaded with HDR10+ support, SmartCast 4.0 technology, 802.11n Dual Band Wi-Fi, and VIZIO's new V-Gaming Engine featuring Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and AMD FreeSync. In this review, I test the VIZIO V585x-H1 58″ 4K HDR Smart TV. This review covers the 58″ VIZIO V585x-H1 model, which joins a wide selection of value-priced 4K displays available in the following size classes: 40″, 43″ 50″, 55″, 58″, 60″ 65″, 70″, and 75″. VIZIO's entire V-Series shares identical performance hardware features and connectivity options, regardless of panel size-class. Each arrives with a one-year VIZIO Parts & Labor warranty, and free Lifetime Technical Support. Panels on VIZIO V-series displays deliver a 60 Hz effective refresh rate, and presented in 16:9 aspect ratio. VIZIO's proprietary Ultra Color Spectrum technology delivers a wide color gamut, and offers a dynamic contrast ratio of 200,000:1. VIZIO V-Series black levels are reproduced by a full-array local dimming solution, which is to be expected considering their value pricing. VIZIO's M- and P-series panels offer increasingly-impressive local dimming zones that deliver incredible black levels – for an added price. This 58″ VIZIO V585x-H1 model measures 51.38″ x 32.43″ x 10.24″ (1305.05 mm x 823.72 mm x 260.1 mm) with the stands installed, and weighs 32-lbs (14.6 Kg). Without the stands, this display measures 51.38″ x 30.02″ x 3.39″ (1305.05 mm x 762.51 mm x 86.11 mm) for panel only. If you plan to wall-mount this display, the VESA-compliant mounting pattern measures 300 mm x 300 mm, and accepts M6 screws up to 14 mm long. The viewable angle for V-Series panels is 178° horizontal, and 178° vertical. All 2021 V-Series home theater displays feature 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual band 802.11n Wi-Fi. Users wo are in need of Bluetooth or 802.11ac connectivity should look to VIZIO's M- or P-Series HDTVs. With such a streamlined feature package, power consumption is one area where the V-series shines. In standby mode, power consumption is a miserly half-watt or less for this 58″ display. During typical use, power consumption rises to only 90 Watts for the VIZIO V585x-H1 model. Energy Guide estimates $20 yearly cost based on 5 hours/day. Smart TV's have come a long way since their introduction, and VIZIO's SmartCast 4.0 technology proves that point with widespread compatibility for their budget V-series lineup. Every popular streaming app is supported, but if you find yourself wanting to ‘cast' to the TV from another device, it can be done from any of the following platforms: Android 4.4+, iOS 9.0+, Mac OS 10.9+, Chrome 28+, and Windows 7+. While offered to the value market, the backside of V-series Smart TVs deliver some premium features not typically available at this price segment. 4K HDR panels aside, you get a wide array of connectivity options: three HDMI 2.1 ports, Composite, Ethernet, USB 2.0, and an over-the-air TV tuner – something not available on many 4K displays. Two rear/bottom-firing 10W speakers offer decent audio output, with good mid and high-range reproduction. Outputs on the V-series include three HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), a Digital Audio output (TOSLINK, S/PDIF), and an Analog Audio output to enable sound to a wide variety of legacy home theater devices. The USB 2.0 port is specified for storage devices formatted with a FAT32 partition, but NTFS also works. VIZIO's SmartCast mobile app is available for those who keep a device handy at all times, but for everyone else the XRT140 remote control is more than capable. This remote adds six quick-launch buttons at the top, along with a Watch Free button to browse over-the-air and streaming stations. Two Duracell AAA batteries are included for the remote. If all else fails, a basic set of power, volume, and input select buttons are available at the side of the display. Much of 2020 has been spent at home, with plenty of free time consumed by seeking relief in front of the TV. These conditions push value to the forefront of consumer concerns, and place added interest in the market segment. VIZIO's 2021 V-series models account for this, and strike the ideal balance of premium features with budget-friendly pricing. For under $300 you get a 58-inch 4K UHD display with HDR10+ support, versatile casting compatibility, full streaming service support, a wide variety of input and output connections, and VIZIO's new V-Gaming Engine featuring Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) with AMD FreeSync. As I evaluated the VIZIO V585x-H1, it was difficult to avoid comparisons to the M-series products that I already own. Really, there were only two standout features missing from V-series: 1) Wireless-AC compatibility, which, if I'm being honest, has no perceivable impact on streaming service quality when compared against Wireless-N, and 2) local dimming zones for darker black levels, which are actually still nice and dark with full-array local dimming. I've handled this 58″ VIZIO V585x-H1 display more than most people will handle their home theater television during its entire product lifetime. I've wall mounted it, and moved it to three different table top locations. I've turned it over several times, and handled it while going up and down stairs. This display is very rigid, and quite durable. VIZIO provides a one-year warranty to the original purchaser against defect in materials and workmanship for non-commercial usage and ninety (90) days of commercial use. Limited technical support is provided for the life of this product. If a SmartCast M-series product covered by warranty is defective, VIZIO will either repair or replace the unit. Consumers may reach VIZIO technical support at techsupport@vizio.com, or by telephone at 877-698-4946. In conclusion, I recommend the 2021 VIZIO V-series displays for budget-minded consumers wanting a versatile 4K Smart HDTV with HDR10+ and a full compliment of streaming services and casting compatibility. Heading into Black Friday priced under $300 for this 58″ model, you cannot possibly go wrong. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    What a Picture!
When I began to remove the Vizio V585X-H1 58” 4K TV from the box this weekend, I knew our family was in for a great experience. The packaging was great – everything was easy to remove – and we were ‘up and running' in no time. We chose to place the TV on a wall mount (already in place) which was easily accomplished. Plugged in the HDMI cable from our Cable Service, attached our steaming device through the third HDMI port, and as a bonus, used HDMI Port #1, which is also the ARC port on the V585X-H1, to connect with our Vizio V51-H6 soundbar. Plugged in the power cord and within seconds we were inputting the needed information to connect to our home WIFI, named the location for the TV, took care of all of the other registration information needed and waited just a few minutes as the TV updated the firmware/software. We were watching the Masters Golf Tournament on our new Vizio V585X-H1 within 40 minutes of taking it out of the box. During Sunday Night Football, it looked at times as if the players were going to join us right in our lounge. We could even pick out raindrops on the players helmets as we watched! Everyone I know has their own preferences when it comes to what kind of picture, and sound levels, they want on their television. Our family is no exception. After watching for about an hour, and putting the TV through its paces including Smartcast, Watchfree, and our streaming service, I made just a couple of picture and sound adjustments that work best for our family. During setup, the V585X-H1 synced right up with our cable service remote allowing us to use it to control power on/off, the volume, as well as cable channel selection. A huge plus in these days of multiple remotes. We do keep the remote that came with the TV on hand to control Smartcast and Watchfree when not using the Smartcast App (which worked right away) on our smartphones and tablets. We plugged in a USB ‘thumb drive' with pictures from our last vacation in Hawaii. The pictures were clear and crisp, and navigation was easy. In conclusion, our family is average when it comes to technical ‘expertise.' However, technical ‘expertise' is not needed with the V585X-H1. Set up was easy – viewing from wide angles great, the picture and sound crisp and clear. We highly recommend the Vizio V585X-H1 as a great family TV that will provide great entertainment value!
