Great combo
This is not my first Penn rod and reel but it is my first Battle III. I am very glad I purchased it. Recently, I've purchased other brands and lesser quality Penn's and have not been completely satisfied with them. This one performs excellent is all areas. It was worth the extra money.

Rod Snapped on First Fish
Received the Battle III Combo for Christmas last year. I finally had the opportunity to use it this past weekend (8/12/2023) and the rod snapped while reeling in the very first fish. Never had this experience with any other Penn products I have owned. Very disappointed.

    Lives up to the name
Arrived as stated. Great rod action and super smooth mechanics. Feels, looks and works like Ana Penn!

    Customer Service for the WIN!
Ordered my Battle III 1 piece 7' MED 4000 combo and when it came in the box was in bad shape and the rod was in 3 pieces (not good since I order 1 piece). Called and emailed Customer Service the same day and they took great care of my situation and had a replacement ordered the same day! Received my replacement, box was in a little better shape, the combo arrived unharmed and in perfect condition! Spooled it up this weekend and took it out first cast first catch (nice Spanish)! The combo preformed as you expect from a PENN!

    Battle 3 rod/reel combo
I bought this last month and it showed up timely and looked great. I used the rod for dorado for the first time and unfortunately during playing a 20 lb dorado, the second section broke. Before the rod broke, it was great and the reel is very smooth. Guess I need to buy another section and give it another shot.

    Great combo. Poor guides.
An amazing combo just like the previous versions. However, the top guides are being cut into by my braided line on both combos and will soon be unusable. That's the reason oxide guides are used so much more than metal.

    Not very sturdy
I bought this combo a few weeks ago and unfortunately the tip snapped the second time out on seaweed. It was the normal type of seaweed you get caught in and my rods have never broke before with such light resistance. I have another Penn rod I really like, so hoping this is just a fluke.

    My Battle III Combo
I love my recent purchse of the Battle III Combo I recently purchased. Like all of the Batttle III combos I now have everything has worked flawlessly. This recent purchased rounded out my saltwater fishing gear and I have had a great experience with all of them thus far.

    Battle III Combo
I bought this Combo on July 2nd and I am glad I did this has been a joy to use and I would get another in a heartbeat. I wish I would have had it for Fathers Day because I lost a big one on the smaller rod I was using.

Really good combo for the price.
First surf rod. Got the 6000 size reel with the 9 foot rod. Smooth and casts well. Handled 3-4 oz weights with bigger baits. Good drag. Caught a decent blacktip on it. Handled it with no problems. Gonna take it out again to see how it handles a bigger fish.

    Big Fish Light Tackle
I like to target big fish on light tackle, specifically bottom fish in deep water and the Penn Battle 3000 is the perfect match for the Job. My set up consists of a Battle 3000 with 4 lb braid and a 60 lb leader with a big ole jig head. We drop this down and jig it while drifting across the reef. Once you hook up, the drift of the boat keeps the fish from returning to his hole and I found that once you get him away from his hole he will only pull as hard as you pull. Occasionally I do get broke off using only 4 lb braid but I have a much higher hook up ratio than my fellow anglers using heavier tackle and meat sticks. Here is a Red Grouper landed in 300' of water using my Battle 3000, a Penn Torque jigging stick and 4 lb Crystal White Braid.

    Nice all around set up
Have used this combo inshore for both sea bass and fluke to 95' of water . Fishing jigs 1-4 Oz . Has a great soft action , with lots of backbone .
