Rugged
This bike is what I expected and so much more. I honestly had no clue that the matte black would look so amazing. This bike is so beautiful it took some doing to get me to take it outside lol. There are so many features to this bike most you can see for yourself. Comfort of the seat, everything's adjustable to you. The shock absorbers to make for a tolerable ride. The rugged build so you don't have to worry so much about the terrain you are riding on. If I ever find a writing partner I promise you I will be going back and getting another bike like this one. If you're looking for a bike for comfort and ruggedness with a beautiful paint job that just makes it look tough and rugged with a muscle car paint job this is the bike for you. I promise you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this bike from kids to adults of any age.

I was excited to receive this good looking bike, but it was already severely damaged by the time it showed up at my doorstep. I am extremely disappointed…

    Not a mountain bike.
This bike was ok, it made a lot of noise when I would ride and then the back tire popped while I was on a trail.

    Best Budget Bike I've Purchased
I saw this bike was on sale for $120 and thought to myself 'why not test it out?' I ignored all the negative reviews and purchased it right away. Fast and Free shipping to my house (only took 2 days) and nothing was broken, used, or missing. Assembly was somewhat easy. Took only 30-35 minutes to screw on everything (if you have the tools to do so), inflate the tires, etc. Don't expect to do crazy tricks and lots of mountain biking on this thing. You get what you pay for at $120. Go spend at least $300 for maybe an entry mountain bike. Pros: Good Suspension, Plenty of customization for the low/high gears and speed shifters Cons: None so far ? Would I recommend this bike? Absolutely. As long as it's for riding on the street, walking trails, and light riding on the dirt, then purchase it. If there is a problem then return it. Don't freak out and give a 2 star rating because you thought that a cheap bike would hold up in rough terrain.

    Fix it up and ride
This was a good buy and I changed the brakes to real brakes. The seat is ok but I changed that also. The seat post was too small for the rack and the handle bars had to be changed to riser. Now it is ridable and safe. Cost was 70 dollars to repair parts. Can get by with 50 and use original seat.

    Solid bike!
I had this bike shipped to me in a large box, with some assembly required. Since I'm not too experienced with bike assembly I didn't want to mess anything up, I took it to my local bike shop to be sure it was done right, though all things considered I think the set up was straightforward, and the box even lists exactly what tools are needed (nothing fancy). You can also get it done at Walmart for free, I believe. I was so excited to see it all put together for the first time! Such a cool looking bike, between the suspension features, tires, and the graphics, this thing looks mean. On first ride today, about six miles along a mostly flat, somewhat overgrown trails of a local nature preserve, I didn't have any problems! The quick-release clamp for the seat was helpful to make minor adjustments as I got to know the bike. The 18-speed twist grip was fine, although became a little difficult to use later in the ride as my hands got sweaty (would recommend gloves). I'm about 5 ft 9 in tall and 165 pounds, and I thought the bike was a good fit. No slipping issues with the pedals. The brakes and steel frame both felt solid and responsive. Finally, the suspension fork in the frame is a neat feature that gives a little extra cushion for bumps and dips. Great bike!

The box came in such bad condition I was flabbergasted. Holes everywhere, weird fluids on the box, and the bike literally sticking out. I was able to take it out and assemble it, but the front brake doesn't work. Do NOT order this online, I'd only recommend buying it pre-assembled in store. Disappointed.

    Great Bike, Easy Assembly
Fantastic bike that arrived nicely packaged with packaging material and paper around the frame to keep it from gettin scratched. Assembly was a breeze, just make sure to have a wrench and screw driver handy. Front wheel attaches on the frame very quickly and two bolts to together does the trick. Handle bars just need to be inserted and tightened too. Pedals and seat go last and you're done. The bike is well made, very sturdy, can switch gears easily, has good brakes and a kick stand too. Really good product!

Shockingly versatile, affordable and great fun
Since the first time I rode my Hyper Shocker Mountain bike I have been thrilled with it. It's great!! My bike was shipped to my house in a heavy duty box. I could tell as soon as I opened the top flap of the box and looked inside that it was well packaged. There were instruction tags explaining how to safely remove it from the carton. I'm mechanically inclined and own many tools so the only challenge for me was following the assembly directions. From start to finish it took me 40 minutes and that includes fully inflating the tires. Without question, this is one of those things where following the instructions is mandatory. I'm glad that I took the time to read the entire instructions before I started. When I finished and certain it was safe, I tested it out on the flat road in front of my house. I went through a whole series of start and stop, gear shifts up and down and turning sharp and wide. I also tested the brakes, front and back separately and simultaneously. The only limitation or drawback that I noticed during all of my test rides was a chattering break pad noise. That noise occurred mostly when slowing of stopping from a good speed. Nothing about the noise caused it to be unsafe but it would have become annoying. I considered several ways to minimize or stop the chatter after trying the manufactures recommendations. What finally worked for me was brake pad dressing. I sprayed a small amount into a paper towel and then wiped the entire rim where the brake pads rub. I also dabbed the brake pad surface using a Q-tip. The brake pads haven't chattered or made any noise since and they stop the bike perfectly. When I was growing up my family was big into motorcycle motocross and enduro. I learned at an early age how to ride in challenging and unpredictable terrain. The feel of this mountain bike reminded me just how much fun bikes like this can be. As I rode this Hyper Shocker around my property, I quickly recognized how well balanced it is. The mixed terrain, including some wide holes and partially buried timbers, challenged this bikes capabilities. I was very impressed with how responsive each component was as I pushed it to the max in those conditions. This is a very affordable mountain bike that has far exceeded my expectations. I'd feel very confident in this bike to ride it to the store and back. I could also make a stop to ride it on some local trails without hesitation. As hard as I've pushed it every part has performed flawlessly. I would strongly recommend this Hyper Shocker Mountain Bike to my friends and family.

    Better than expected.
When the Hyper 26 in. Shocker Men's Dual Suspension Mountain Bike arrived in the shipping carton I thought I would need to go to a local bike shop and have them put it together. This was not the case. The mountain bike was mainly assembeled. I noticed the frame was welded at the joints and not pressed togther and spot welded. I took the mountain bike for a spin down the block and it was very agile while turning and rode smooth for a mountain bike. It's between 95 and 101 degrees therefore it's unhealthy to head for the trails to test the shocks.

    Great for trails
The Hyper mountain bike is a very good bike. It's comfortable and sturdy, but still lightweight compared to other mountain bikes I have ridden in the past. The bike came unassembled. Assembly wasn't too difficult, but you may want to have another person to help with getting the front wheel installed. You will need a Phillips screwdriver, 6 and 8 MM Allen wrenches, metric sockets and wrenches. I had to make some adjustments to the gears and brakes, which was a bit painful. The instructions cover these adjustments, but I still needed to search online for some help. You will need to adjust the handlebars and seat to your size. Once the bike was assembled, I inflated the tires and hit the bike trail. Switching between the 6 gears on the rear derailleur was smooth with a dedicated click for each gear on the gear selector. The front derailleur wasn't as smooth. The rear derailleur has a series of clicks to move through the gears and you have to find the right spot for each gear as you go up and down the range of the gear selector. I wish the front derailleur had dedicated gear positions like the rear derailleur. The bike has excellent suspension and I wasn't fatigued after my ride. The handlebars provide sufficient comfort and the seat width is adequate and padded enough to allow for a comfortable ride. The tires were a little noisy on hard pavement, but not noticeable on the wooden bridge I crossed. I didn't ride on any hills or gravel or dirt trails, but I'm sure the bike would handle those quite easily. I think this bike should work well for the average rider who just wants to ride for fun.

    Good Looks and Great Performance
The bicycle arrived in flawless condition thanks in part to what I can only describe as incredibly impressive packaging. Unboxing and removing the protective packaging took about 10 minutes. The instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. It took me working alone approximately 35 minutes to finish assembling the bicycle. I then took another 15 or so minutes to properly inflate the tires and adjust everything to my liking. The brakes and gear components were all fine as they came from the factory. All in all, I was ready to ride within an hour of opening the box. So far I've ridden around my neighborhood (paved streets) and through my yard and the bike has been great. The dual suspensions smooth out bumps and make for a very pleasant ride. The tires are knobby, but work surprisingly well on asphalt (although they are a bit noisy). Riding through wet grass was a breeze and I never felt any sort of sliding or slipping, even when doing tight turns. The Shimano components make for smooth shifting through the 18 gears. This is the first bike I've had that uses the twist-grip shifting and I must say it's very nice. I can maintain a good grip on the handlebars while shifting much easier than I could with the traditional thumb-lever style shifters. The bike is a bit on the heavy side, but it feels solid and the performance is great. The front and rear brakes are grippy and responsive and make safe stopping very easy. Finally, I would be remiss without mentioning the looks. The smooth matte-black undercoating set off by red lettering and accents makes for a very attractive bicycle. That being said, I can't wait to get it out on the trails and get some dirt and mud on it! I'm very pleased with the Hyper Bicycles 26" Shocker Men's Dual Suspension Mountain Bike. It's a great performing and solid bike that's easy to assemble, easy to adjust, easy on the eyes, and easy to ride!

18 Speed Hyper Shocker26 lives up to the name!
When I received this bike for my honest review, I was wondering how the quality would be. It was obvious within 10 minutes of unboxing it. I own 2 other speed bikes and know quality when I see it. This bike definitely exceeds my expectations. It is quality made from the brakes, cables, shifters, and gears to the seat and hand grips. The only problem was that one part of the front fork got damaged during the shipping. Customer service was outstanding. I called the toll-free service number, and the rep was awesome. He told me he would send out the new part by FedEx that day, and I would get it in two days. Two days later it arrived. I had it attached and was able to test ride it in no time. To me, customer service is just as important as the product, and they passed that test with flying colors. The gear shifting is smooth, and the ride and suspension is very nice. I love this bike, and I look forward to riding it every day I can (when it's not raining). Lastly, I really like the design and the color on the black background. Very cool looking, and I have already gotten complimented on it. A friend of mine wants one!

    A solid good looking bike
The bicycle arrived in a very big box that looked kind of beat up and taped up in several areas. After I opened it up I found that the bicycle looked to be in good shape although there was a fair amount of assembly that I needed to do. The tires and the pedals and other assorted parts were zip tied to the frame, so I cut them apart and tried to arrange things for assembly. Unfortunately, I could not find an instruction sheet or manual that explained how to put all the pieces together, so I had to rely on my many years of bicycle riding experience and tried to figure out the best way to put it together on my own. I would say it took about an hour and a half and a lot of that time was spent trying to find the right tools to use. After I got it all put together I looked it over and tried to use some grease in the correct areas for lubrication. I would say overall it is a nice looking bicycle and it is built in the style of a mountain bike. I think if you were to try to use it on trails as a mountain bike it probably wouldn't last too long, but using it mostly on the street and taking care of it I think it looks like it could last for quite a while. It is fairly comfortable to ride on and the shifting works quite well. The seat is covered in a slightly padded black textured vinyl and feels okay for a short ride but I think it would be fairly uncomfortable for anything other than that. The rims and spokes are painted black and the tires are knobby which would work good on trails. I immediately attached some baskets and a carrier on it that I took off one of my older bikes which will come in handy in the future. I've been using it for a few days now and I really like it!

    Decide what you need.
Out the box there's minimal assembly. Front wheel, handlebars, saddle and pedals. Once you've done that you will need to go over the whole bike to inflate, tighten and align everything. The gears took a bit of fine tuning. The bike itself is surprisingly heavy, but it looks good. It has nice nobly tires and looks like a cool mountain bike So how did it perform? I took it for a ride on the road and on a local “unofficial” trail which I would rate as between light and demanding. On the road the ride was nice and smooth although I found the saddle overly hard and uncomfortable. The twist grip gear changing takes some getting used to and changing seemed slow. I'm used to levers so this might just be a learning curve. I'm going to describe this as a “mountain bike style” daily road bike rather than a mountain bike. It's okay for exceedingly light trails like dirt tracks, but on slightly more demanding trails the front forks are an issue. There is a lot of “twist flex” in them and when I went on more demanding ground this was VERY noticeable and unbalancing. The label on the bike says it's rated for up to 275lbs, but my 175lbs felt to be on the upper limits off road. IMO the manufacturer should switch to solid front forks to keep the bike in the price range and make it more stable on “the trail”. The twist grip gear change is okay for road use, but I'd prefer levers for off road as it's possible to change gear accidentally on landing a jump or on bumpy downhill. Also, the grips are very short, so the hands sit on the twist gear changers which are a wider diameter making the overall grip two thicknesses. My thumb and forefinger rubbed on the thicker part when I tried to just hold the grip. The brakes are exceedingly noisy which is probably due to the painted wheel rims instead of chromed, but they do stop the bike. Bottom line, decide what you are looking for. If you want a cool road bike in a mountain bike style it's GREAT and I can recommend it, but as it's promoted as a mountain bike, I am judging it on that basis and if you intend to go off road on demanding trails, this is probably not the bike for you. I will be swapping the saddle an using it as a road bike for some good cardio. For a mountain bike style road bike I give it 3-4 stars, You'll get everything out of it you are looking for, be it a cardio workout, a light ride or environment friendly transport. For an actual mountain bike I can only give it 1.

    Stay in shape
I received the Hyper 26 inch Shocker Men's Dual Suspension Mountain Bike to give my honest opinion. I am not going to lie it has been a while since I rode on a bicycle. But the thing that got me into riding again was my uncle. I remember when I lived with my uncle, he would ride his bike at least once a week. And when I asked his purpose for riding a bicycle despite having a vehicle, he mentioned the health benefits. To make a long story short, ever since, I just had this desire to once again ride, obviously not for the same purpose as when I was younger but to stay in shape. To the adults out there, regardless of what age you are, it is essential to get back on your bike again. Because it helps increase muscle strength, joint mobility, release stress, strengthen bones, etc. My only cons for the Hyper men's bicycle is the assembling portion. As you can tell from these pictures, I have not had the time to assemble my bike, but I plan on very soon. Overall, I recommend the Hyper 26. Shocker Men's Dual Suspension Mountain Bike to children and adults. Especially adults, I understand at a certain age we do tend to believe that riding bicycles is for children, but that is far from the truth. Riding will help you stay in shape and may help reduce stress.

FUN Riding At Home, On Bike Paths, And All Terrain
Since I was unfamiliar with a mountain bike, but had friends, who highly recommended them, I was uncertain of what to expect when I received mine. While unboxing this Hyper Shocker Mountain Bike my first impression was this was a ruggedly built, steel frame bicycle equipped with knobby tires for off-road duty. As I completed my partial assembly of this bike I took notice of the front and rear cantilever hand brakes, and adjusted the front brake as the included Owners' Manual outlined to install the front bike tire to the bike frame. The handle bar and bike seat were easy to install, especially the padded seat with its quick- release clamp, which allows for instant height adjustments. I followed the Owner's Manual on the chain adjustments to insure I was ready for riding and learning how to use the 18 speed twist-grip shifters on this Shocker Mountain Bike. So, now after five days of riding this mountain bike over various surfaces, and, getting the 'feel' of its smooth operation, I am extremely comfortable riding this bike over any kind of terrain. WooHoo! Here is what I love about this Hyper Men's Dual Suspension Shocker Mountain Bike: * ASSEMBLY – The Owner's Manual is a 'must-read' and includes detailed instructions and helpful diagrams for bike assembly, bolt tightening, and adjustments. I used an adjustable wrench to tighten the bolts and a #2 Phillips screwdriver for the reflectors. I threaded the Left and Right marked pedals by hand, then tightened with my adjustable wrench. To adjust the brakes metric Allen keys, sizes 5mm and 6mm, are necessary. Bike assembly took me approximately forty-five minutes including brake and the necessary chain adjustments. Do not skip these important adjustment steps. * SHIFTING – At first I thought this was going to be a complicated learning curve. I quickly discovered that the Left shifter operates the front derailleur. Using the Left shifter makes major changes to the drive chain like when going up, and, or, down a hill and shifting to the largest chain ring (outside ring), which makes my bike harder to pedal but enables more power. The Right shifter operates the rear derailleur, which makes smaller changes in my pedaling according to the surfaces I am riding on. On flat terrain I shift the rear derailleur onto a larger cog for much easier pedaling. An important point I found out is that I have to be peddling the bike in order to shift. However, easing off the pressure on the pedals as I shift enables a smoother change of gears. The more I rode this bike the easier it was to learn the what the Left and Right shifters do. The first day I did not shift much, but by the fifth day I found myself shifting a lot, and with ease. The more I used this bike the more comfortable I was learning how to use the Left and Right shifters, and, when to shift. * RIDE – The knobby tires fooled me into thinking the ride would be rough. However, these tires are all-terrain, and, gave me a pleasant ride over neighborhood streets, dirt bike trails, and over bumpy surfaces too. Really appreciate the padded seat. I keep my tires inflated to 45 PSI. * SAFETY – This Hyper Men's Shocker comes with the necessary reflectors legally required. The front and rear reflectors have to be installed during bike assembly. They require a Phillips screwdriver. For extra safety I purchased a front LED, battery powered, headlight and rear tail light from Walmart. Installation was quick and easy. I don't plan on riding at night, but at times it gets pretty dark during the day when storms are approaching. These lights will come in handy. * MAINTENANCE & LUBRICATION – I always check the brakes and bike condition before I ride. The bike chain requires light lubrication every six rides according to the Owner's Manual. I used a light machine oil (20w) as recommended on each chain roller. Every six months the brake levers, cantilever brakes, brake cables, and pedals require light lubrication as indicated in the Owner's Manual. * WARRANTY – One year limited warranty. The details are explained in the 'Warranty' section of the Owner's Manual. I am now a mountain bike 'convert', and, love this Hyper Men's Shocker Dual Suspension Mountain Bike. YaHoo! I highly recommend it to any bike enthusiasts, or new riders to mountain bikes like me.
