Broken Rod
I have had the 6000 combo for less than 6 months, and have only used it a few times. On a recent trip while pulling in a fish, the rod broke about a foot from the tip. It wasn't even a big fish. I couldn't believe it snapped. I do like the reel though. Very smooth and capable. The rod however did not hold up and because of that I would not recommend.

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/23/2022Very disappointedI bought this item few weeks ago and the top guide started damaging my braided 30lb line, today I got in touch with Walmart and all they could do is a replacement or refund of the item and ignored my damaged line. I'm very disappointed on the quality of the item and the way Walmart didn't care about my line that I also bought from them and got damaged by their faulty item. And also they want me to return the item that I bought online to a store by a certain date, which is not fair at allZak

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/18/2021Reel good, Rod badI bought this combo a month ago and fished most every day with it. It felt really good and snappy being a 9ft rod that was a medium heavy. I was pier fishing when I hooked a fish that wanted to go under the pier. While trying to turn the fish the other way the rod snapped. I was shocked. If anything I thought my 25lb line would go first. I have already ordered a better rod to put the reel on and look forward to using it more. Save the time and money and get the reel separately, if you can, to pair it with a better rod.B0rn2f1sh

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/04/2021Maybe just a bad rod?I have 6 of the Fierce II rod/reel combo's that I've owned for 3 years and they have been great. Not a seconds worth of trouble out of any of them. Two weeks ago I bought a Fierce III to replace one that my kids dropped off the side of the boat. Took it out this weekend and first cast the rod snapped at the eye before the tip. Must have been something wrong with rod where the eye was wrapped. Hopefully this was just a random flaw and isn't a reflection of Penn's latest quality control.Zach M

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/01/2020Battle II 6000 comboBought a pair of the Battle II 6000 combo for catching bait and smaller fish while surf fishing. Very pleased with performance so far. The rods are nice 1 piece 7' and easily have handled all fish so far. Only negative (if actually a negative) is the spool held less mono than advertised.Surffisher843

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/22/2019Very SmoothI bought this model PENN combo for medium fishing in the Choctawhatchee bay, Fla. It is perfect. The PENN drag system is superb. It works very good with braided line and the anti reverse is absolutely instant. I caught some big Redfish and Black Drum on the first trip out.Woodiedux

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/01/2018Penn Quality and ReputationPenn quality and reputation led me to purchase the Penn Battle II 6000 and 9 foot, 2 pc. rod. My first use of these products will be tomorrow when I go Yellowtail, Yellowfin, and Bluefin fishing here in San Diego. I am aiming at fish 50 lbs and under. I loaded the reel with 30 lb. monofilament with a top shot of fluoro. I am of the belief that (in this case 5 + 1) ball bearings with a spinning reel is a must. I could not help but notice the smooth quality of this metal reel when loading it with line which meant durability at a 5.6:1, 41" rate. Also, unlike other reel manufacturers I know I can always get parts even if the reel is discontinued. When presetting the drag, the clicker really made it a lot easier to set this carbon fiber system and the line came off the reel at precisely where it was set and smoothly. Maximum drag is 25 lbs. When transitioning from free spool to reel down I did not have to fight nor manually hand over the bail.Green Chili Salsa
