Wrath 4000 Made My Day
Purchased the Penn Wrath combo in order to saltwater fish. We booked a trip at Deep Sea Headquarters in Port Aransas. The 4000 caught a shark and other fish while 30 miles offshore. Once we returned, we continued to fish at the jetties and I caught about 5 Atlantic Spadefish before having to call it day to make the trip back to Round Rock.

The rod is trash
I bough this yesterday. On about the thirtieth cast, I got snagged on something underneath the water. Nothing to bad. As I was about to cut the line, the rod snapped. I was upset at how quick this broke. It wasn't even a day old in my possession. The reel works fine.

    Awful rod good reel
Extremely disappointed in penn. This rod is garbage. I swear by most of their products but this one does not live up to the name. Not sure what happened there. My rod is brand new and snapped after one small fish. Will be sending an email about warranty and/or replacement.

Reel is fine but rod is not
I bought 2 of these 4000 combos and used them for about a month, the rod broke when I got caught around a dock with 15lb test. Most rods I own including cheap rods don't break before the line breaks…. The quality of the rod is sub par, very disappointed. Penn quality seems to be going downhill. I mean I don't expect an amazing rod in any combo, but it shouldn't break that easily.

    Could be a great rod
I have bought 2 of these over the course of a year. The first one I loved and thought it was a great rod until about a month later when it snapped just below the tip. I was reeling in a smaller fish and when I picked up on the rod it just snapped. I thought perhaps it was something I did incorrectly, and since I liked the rod color/reel I bought another one. I had the other one for maybe a week before this one snapped while I was putting line on it. I was only applying light pressure to keep the line taught so it wouldn't cause a birds nest on the first cast and it snapped before I could ever use it. Could be an awesome rod but seems pretty junky compared to my other 6 Penn rods which I have had for multiple years with absolutely no problem.

i don't understand why all the bad reviews.
i just got the combo and it is very good quality, like all of penn's products, i even bent the rod to see if it will snap and it didn't even though it's a fast action which by the way low quality rods don't come in. i maybe all of these bad reviews are from other companies or very clumsy people. All of these bad reviews are most likely fake. BTW i just got a lot of products from penn like the spinfisher 10500 and a fathom 2 50lw plus a rod for it and everything world's very well.

Loved this pole until it snapped for no reason....
I bought this pole and used it twice on ocean fishing trip from the pier. The first trip was a great success, second one was a great success as well until the tip of my pole snapped. It would be one thing if it snapped while I was trying to catch a large fish or had snagged on something large. Very disappointed in how this turned out!!

    Mad!!!
Due to Covid we haven't been fishing in almost 2 years. Purchased this combo to use and it felt great in the store. Out on the water for 20 minutes and fish hit the line. Let out the drag for about 30 feet. Tried reeling in and the line snapped and the entire top piece came off and the fish drugged it away. Now I have a bottom half without a top half. Reel seems good but I wouldn't know because I only used it for 20 minutes. Never would've expected this from a Penn. Sad.
